21 March - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:00Hi there, welcome to the latest national weather forecast from the Met Office.
00:04More cloud in the sky for many parts of the UK compared to what we saw at the weekend,
00:09but it's mostly medium level cloud and for the vast majority it's staying dry and bright.
00:15The best of the sunshine will remain across central and eastern Scotland, north-east England.
00:1910 to 11 Celsius here, but actually turning a bit warmer further south compared to the
00:24weekend, 15 to 18 Celsius, for example, southern England and south Wales.
00:29Now that medium level cloud I mentioned could give the odd shower for parts of Wales into
00:34the Midlands, but a few more showers potentially arrive from the south overnight.
00:40Could give the odd spot of rain over Wales, the Midlands by the early hours of the morning,
00:45but for the vast majority it's staying dry.
00:48Areas of cloud here and there, but where we see some clear spells, a pocket or two of
00:52fog and a touch of frost, for example, eastern Scotland, north-east England.
00:57But the weather is set fair for the foreseeable because high pressure is sitting to the east,
01:02low pressure unable to move in from the west.
01:04We've got this southerly airflow on the periphery of that high and that means it is going to
01:09be a warm day on Tuesday for many, particularly in the south, and there'll be one or two spots
01:14of rain as some medium level cloud drifts north through the day.
01:18So for northern England, southern Scotland, for example, the odd shower is possible, but
01:24there'll be few and far between.
01:25For the vast majority it's, again, a fine day and actually a bit more sunshine coming
01:29through that will allow temperatures to reach 19 or even 20 Celsius, somewhere like London
01:34or Cambridge.
01:36Now into Tuesday evening, any showers that do form will readily clear away and then,
01:42well, we've got this southeasterly dry airflow and that means that with high pressure close
01:48by, the rest of the week effectively looks dry with plenty more sunshine.
01:54We'll keep you updated, as always, on social media.
01:56Bye bye.
