00:00Hi there, it's been a grotty start to Tuesday with a lot of low cloud, some mist and drizzle
00:06in places but it's also been mild. We've got low pressure to the west of the UK, high pressure
00:12to the east and this very mild southerly airflow. In fact, it's going to turn even milder over
00:17the next few days and nights but that southerly airflow is also bringing a lot of cloud and
00:22increasingly spells of rain. Those spells of rain heading into the Republic of Ireland
00:27during Tuesday afternoon. A few bits of rain for Wales, the south-west, Northern Ireland
00:32as well. Extensive low cloud across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland
00:37covering the hills in places. Some brightness in the far south-east and more especially
00:41northern Scotland where we'll see the best of the sunshine through Tuesday afternoon
00:45and lower temperatures here, 12 or 13 Celsius but 17, 18 in the south despite the extensive
00:52and thick cloud which will only thicken through the evening. The heavier and more persistent
00:57rain then arrives into Cornwall, Devon, eventually pushing into much of Western England, Wales
01:02and Northern Ireland through the evening and overnight. Those spells of wet weather could
01:06cause issues, could cause localised flooding for parts of Northern Ireland as well as Western
01:11England and Wales. Yellow rain warnings in force, more than 50 mils in places. By the
01:17end of the night, that rain is pushing into the Central Belts, parts of Northern England
01:20but East Anglia in the south-east largely stays clear of that and the north of Scotland
01:24likewise. Wherever you are however, it is a mild night with temperatures at 15 to 18
01:31Celsius in places. But it's a wet start to the day for northern and western parts of
01:35the UK. Spells of heavy rain moving through. It does turn a bit drier towards the south
01:41and it stays mostly dry for the far east and south-east of England with some sunshine even
01:47into the afternoon. This southerly airflow though continues to bring wet weather to western
01:52parts and you can see the 24-hour rainfall accumulations there. Heaviest rain towards
01:57the west, more than 50 mils in places. Driest towards the east, some parts of East Anglia
02:02and the south-east. No rain at all through the 24-hour period and that's where temperatures
02:07could reach the low 20s on Wednesday afternoon given some sunny spells. Elsewhere it's just
02:12cloudy and further wet weather comes along for Wednesday evening across Wales, the south-west
02:19and much of northern and western parts of the UK as well as the night progresses. Eventually
02:25some trend for that unsettled weather to move east. Brighter skies to come on Thursday,
02:31albeit with still one or two showers. We'll keep you updated on our YouTube channel. Bye-bye.
