00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Today I can offer you more sunshine than the last few days, although we've seen some heavy rain overnight, which is now slowly clearing Scotland.
00:12In its wake, brighter sky is emerging. You can see here though, this feature here could bring a scattering of showers towards the west as we head through the day,
00:20but temperatures still above average for this time of year.
00:23Through Thursday night and into Friday, the cloud thickens from the west, all courtesy of this band of rain which moves in and we'll see some stronger winds.
00:30There's a wind warning associated with some high waves and also some high spring tides as we head through Friday.
00:37For the time being, that rain could be heavy at times across the far north-east as Scotland.
00:41Another pulse moving in but clearing towards the north-east through the day.
00:45Murky across Pennine districts as well as southern uplands and we could see more clouds and also some patchy drizzle across east Anglia.
00:52But brighter skies towards the south. Bit of a breeze coming in across the southwest as well as Channel Coast,
00:58but many areas seeing some sunshine as we head through the morning.
01:01And even along this eastern strip here, the sun will come out.
01:04Now for Scotland, any rain tends to lose its intensity as it moves towards the far north, so an improving picture across these parts.
01:12At the same time through the afternoon, you can see some showers for Northern Ireland, a few cropping up across Wales as well as southern and western parts of Scotland.
01:21Brighter skies as well, though the sunshine could turn hazy across east Anglia as well as the south-east, even so.
01:2719 degrees Celsius will be your high, 18 for Aberdeenshire, 15 or 16 for Northern Ireland.
01:33For Cardiff, we're seeing around 17 degrees Celsius.
01:36Now through this evening and overnight, some clearer skies, temperatures lower than last night,
01:42so a bit of a cooler feel to things as we start the day on Friday.
01:46This thickening cloud brings outbreaks of rain, the rain moving from the west towards the east.
01:50It could be heavy at times and watch out for some very strong winds across the western side of Scotland.
01:56Into Saturday, some showers will linger on across eastern counties.
02:01For many, though, it's a bright day with some sunny spells coming through.
02:06Here's your outlook through Sunday. I think this says it all, really.
02:09It's turning very windy. A wind warning has been issued for the north as well as the west.
02:13I expect some outbreaks of rain and, yes, the strongest winds will always be towards the northwest.
02:18Stay up to date with all our forecasts. I'll see you again soon.
