00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Mark O'Britannia.
00:03The weather is set to turn and settle once again I'm afraid as we go through the coming
00:07working week. After a quieter end to the weekend, low pressure is moving back in from the west
00:11and south-west. Fairly tightly packed isobars indicating there will be some quite brisk
00:15wind at times too.
00:16Looking at things in more detail now for this evening and through the overnight period,
00:20it's turning wet and quite windy out across the west and south-west of the UK, some heavy
00:24rain developing at times here. Whereas towards the north and east it's a clearer picture,
00:28a few showers up towards the far north-east, locally wintry. But with the clear spells
00:31it will turn quite chilly, could well see a touch of frost in some rural spots towards
00:35the north and east by Monday morning. Temperatures here into low single figures, though climbing
00:39out towards the west as the wind and rain comes in nearer 6 or 7 degrees here by the
00:43morning.
00:44As for Monday, well a pretty wet picture across many western and particularly south-western
00:48parts of the UK, some heavy bursts of rain across the south-west at times. Gradually
00:51working its way north-eastwards, although some northern and eastern spots are holding
00:55on to some brightness, with wintry showers up towards the far north-east. And in the
00:59sunshine, where it comes through across the south-east, we'll see highs around about
01:0211 or 12 Celsius. It will be a cold day towards the north at 5 or 6 degrees, and as that rain
01:07moves north into Scotland during the afternoon, it will start to turn to snow in places.
01:13As we go through the evening and during the overnight period, a pretty unsettled picture
01:16to come across Scotland. Rain and snow affecting many parts here. In fact, a warning comes
01:20into force at midnight. You could see up to 2 inches of rain across parts of Scotland
01:23by Tuesday morning, and up to 20 centimetres or so of snow above about 300 metres. Elsewhere,
01:29there will be some clearer spells but also some showers around. And we could also see
01:32a touch of frost in places by Tuesday morning, particularly towards the north and north-east
01:37of Scotland, where temperatures will be close to freezing. Holding up in the towns and cities
01:41further south, a nearer 5 to 7 degrees.
01:44As for Tuesday, well a very unsettled warning to come once again across Scotland. Further
01:48rain and hill snow at times here. Elsewhere, some bright spells but also showers, or longer
01:53spells of rain if we're too far away. I notice outbreaks of rain there, particularly affecting
01:57the south-east of England. And wherever you are, a fairly cool day for the time of year.
02:01Temperatures peaking at 10 to 12 Celsius in the south, nearer 5 or 6 across parts of the
02:05north.
02:06That's pretty much it for me, but you can keep tuned to The Met Office Forecast by following

02:14bye bye.
