00:00Hello, we're starting the weekend on a very showery note across the UK. Some of those
00:04showers are quite heavy in nature. That's all down to low pressure being anchored close
00:07by towards the north-east of the UK, tightly packed isobars, so a brisk north-west of the
00:11airstream. A small ridge of high pressure comes in from the west tomorrow, just to quieten
00:15things down. But notice out towards the west, the next Atlantic system gathering, so further
00:19rain coming in as we head into the early part of next week.
00:22Back to the details now for this afternoon. It's a case of sunshine and showers, a real
00:26rash of showers across the UK, some of those quite heavy in nature, some hail and thunder,
00:30even a bit of snow across the hills towards the north there, and quite a keen and say
00:34brisk gusty north to north-west of the airstream. So although temperatures will generally climb
00:38in the range 8 to 10 Celsius this afternoon, which is close to just slightly below average,
00:43add on the effect of that north to north-west of the wind and temperatures will feel more
00:46like 3 to 5 Celsius out and about, so you'll certainly need to wrap up warm if you're heading
00:51out and about this afternoon.
00:53As we head into the evening and during the overnight period, we'll continue to see a
00:55lot of showers across the UK, again feeding in from the north and north-west, still some
01:00heavy ones around for a time. But notice as we go into the early hours of Sunday, the
01:04showers become more focused towards the north and north-west, still a few wintry ones across
01:08the higher ground in Scotland, but with clear spells developing, the winds just starting
01:11to ease down towards the south and east. We will start to see some fairly chilly temperatures
01:15by Sunday morning in towns and cities holding up at 4 to 6 Celsius, but closer to freezing
01:20in a few rural spots, so a touch of frost is likely by Sunday morning.
01:25As for Sunday itself, well, a much quieter day is on the cards across the bulk of the
01:29UK, still one or two showers feeding in from the north and north-west, still wintry in
01:33nature across the hills of Scotland, but with lighter winds on the whole, generally more
01:37on the way of sunshine around, particularly towards the south and east, it should start
01:40to feel a bit warmer out and about, with those temperatures responding to the sunshine picking
01:44up to 10 to 13 Celsius, 13 there in London is 55 in Fahrenheit, which is close to the
01:51seasonal average for late March.
01:53That's pretty much it from me, but of course you can keep tuned to The Met Office Forecast
