00:00Hello there. Windy on Wednesday with gales towards the north west and also some heavy rain.
00:05Dry skies always towards the south as well as the east.
00:08Now through Tuesday evening, some heavy showery bursts with the risk of thunder across western and northern Scotland.
00:14This rain clears towards the far north, still windy but we've lost the gales for a time.
00:19Elsewhere, the odd spot or two of rain can't be ruled out in the wind across England and Wales where we'll see more cloud for a time.
00:25But a quiet and dry end to the night here.
00:28All eyes then on the west where this band of rain will move in and some heavy bursts likely as we head into the early hours of the morning.
00:34And this is when the winds will pick up some strength.
00:36Elsewhere, the night will be mostly frost free with more cloud to start the day on Wednesday morning.
00:42First of all then, let me show you the gusts as we head through the first part of Wednesday.
00:46These pinks representing gusts up to around 55, 60 miles an hour.
00:50Particularly for the western hours, we can see severe gales for a time as the strongest winds extend towards the far north of Scotland.
00:57We can even see some damaging gusts across the eastern side of Northern Ireland again through the morning associated with that rain band and some heavy bursts.
01:04But for much of Scotland, it's a dry start to the day, even some brighter weather towards border regions.
01:09You can see where the rain is, some bright echoes representing some heavy bursts across Northern Ireland.
01:14But a dry start across England and Wales, broken cloud towards the east but the rain never too far away towards the southwest of England.
01:22So, through Wednesday morning, we watch as this rain gradually pushes in.
01:26And again, these winds will be incredibly strong, particularly through the north channel.
01:30Now, the cloud will come and go across England, Wales and eastern Scotland, but some brighter weather, even some sunshine across eastern counties through the day.
01:37At the same time, rain will slowly clip western parts of Wales as well as the west country.
01:42Hanging on to that wet weather for Northern Ireland as well as western Scotland and an undercut of cold air will allow snow to form, particularly above around 300 metres.
01:51So, west, we'll see the strongest winds, outbreaks of rain.
01:54East, temperatures will be around 12 to 14 Celsius, so in shelter, not feeling too bad with some sunshine.
02:00Here's your outlook through Thursday.
02:02That rain dies in situ with some brighter skies either side.
02:05It turns wet and windy again towards the west on Friday.
02:08Bye-bye.
