00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:03Warnings for snow and ice across the north of Scotland through Tuesday and into Wednesday.
00:08And eventually, Arctic air streams right across the country.
00:11Let's look at the broader picture.
00:13You can see the yellows just slowly fading away
00:16as that weather front sinks down towards more southern areas through Wednesday.
00:20A warning in the north and then that cold north and northeasterly wind
00:23delivering snow showers across more northern and eastern areas through Wednesday as well as Thursday.
00:29The air generally turning a lot colder with the risk of frost.
00:33Let's backtrack to Tuesday evening.
00:35First of all, this weather front here continues across the central belt of Scotland
00:41pushing in across the north and northeast of England.
00:43A cold biting wind.
00:45Now behind it, we'll see those snow showers.
00:47A warning for snow and ice across northern Scotland.
00:50Accumulations above around 100 metres.
00:53Further south, any patchy rain during Tuesday evening will clear
00:57and then we'll see some dry skies.
00:59However, as we head into tomorrow morning, a frosty and icy start across Scotland.
01:04It will be cold.
01:05We'll see some brighter skies emerging.
01:07Eventually, this cloud clearing from border regions.
01:09The rain approaching Northern Ireland will slowly sink down towards much of the province through the morning.
01:14Rain also across northern counts of England, moving in across the Midlands, East Anglia
01:18and some patchy rain also for the north of Wales.
01:21A drier start to the day across southern counties, but that won't last.
01:25Through the day, eventually, this weather front here erratically moves its way southwards
01:30bringing more clouds and some outbreaks of rain.
01:32Colder behind it, so we could see some snow over Pennines
01:37and certainly some snow showers moving in across the northeast of England, also northern
01:42and eastern areas of Scotland where they will penetrate further inland
01:45because of the strength of the wind.
01:47And that will bring also the chance of quite a significant wind chill.
01:52It's been cold across most places, but we hang on to double figures across more southern areas
01:56where you'll see some showery rain to end the day on Wednesday.
02:00Here's your outlook through Thursday.
02:02Another band of rain through Wednesday night into Thursday could bring cloud, rain
02:06and even some hill snow to southern areas before it clears through the day
02:10allowing some brighter skies, but always the chance of wintry showers towards the north and the east.
02:14And this is your outlook as we head into the weekend, remaining cold
02:17and then a little more changeable to the end of the week.
