09 May - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Showers through the next few days could be heavy, with the risk of thunder and hail.
00:04In fact, through Tuesday evening, there's a warning for thunderstorms across the southeast.
00:09So you could run into some heavy bursts through the next few hours through Tuesday evening
00:14before that risk eases.
00:15Now, low pressure gradually drifts in across more northern and western areas into Wednesday
00:21and Thursday, drifts down towards the south.
00:23And then come Friday, this ridge of high pressure extends across more western and northern areas.
00:28You lose the shower risk, and you'll gain some brighter weather.
00:30For the time being, though, you can see where we're seeing some lively conditions across
00:34the south as well as the east.
00:36It will ease.
00:37That warning goes out to 10pm on Tuesday evening.
00:41At the same time, showery rain comes in from the west, with a stronger wind here.
00:46Inland, though, some clearer skies, even some fog patches, as temperatures dip down to single
00:50figures.
00:51So a bit of a cool start to the day come Wednesday morning, but for some, it will be bright with
00:55some sunshine.
00:56I still have the sunshine across the central zone of Scotland, down towards eastern counters
01:00of England, as well as the Midlands.
01:02That hark continues across the far north-east of Scotland.
01:05And this showery rain brings with it clouds through the morning.
01:08Cloudy conditions also for Wales and the West Country, with a little bit of wet weather
01:11here.
01:12But through the day, the sun will get to work, we'll see holes in the cloud, but it will
01:16mean showers will develop in situ.
01:18And yet again, they'll be heavy with the risk of thunder, even some hail mixed in there.
01:22With some sunshine coming through from time to time, strongest winds always towards the
01:26north-west elsewhere.
01:27These slow-moving showers are a lighter breeze, and they'll continue into the evening, as
01:31temperatures rise to the high teens at the very best.
01:35So that's the picture on Wednesday afternoon.
01:38Those showers will rumble on into Wednesday evening, low pressure never too far away.
01:43We'll see some drier skies, the showers will lose their potency and some drier weather
01:49coming through.
01:50But always the chance of more clouds and some showery bursts just extending across
01:53England and Wales as we head into Thursday morning.
01:57Stronger winds across the western side of Northern Ireland through Thursday morning
02:00as well.
02:01As we see some sunshine to start the day across the central part of Scotland.
02:06These showers yet again will be heavy through Thursday with the risk of thunder and hail.
02:11Perhaps some drier weather though across western Scotland with some sunshine here.
02:15Highest temperatures 17 Celsius for western Scotland, and not too bad in any shelter further
02:19south and east.
02:21Always that cloud coming and going across the far north of Scotland, but again the cloud
02:24will break at times.
02:26Here's your outlook through Friday.
02:28The chance of some heavy showers in the south elsewhere.
02:31Mostly dry, the cloud coming and going, but some brighter skies coming through, setting
02:35the scene for Saturday.
02:36More rain in the north-west Saturday and into Sunday.
02:39Bye bye.
