00:00Hello there, welcome to a weather update from the Met Office. Things are relatively quiet
00:04at the moment but through the next few days the air slowly destabilises so towards the
00:09end of the working week we'll see an increasing chance of some showers. The air is relatively
00:14warm towards the south west but cooler by the north and east and sea surface temperatures
00:18still low along this strip here with an onshore breeze it's going to feel cool along the east
00:23coast and certainly the winds will pick up some strength through Thursday, a squeeze
00:27on the isobars here. Notice through Thursday and into Friday weather fronts just drifting
00:32across the sky, again triggering off those heavy showers, always more clouds as well
00:36particularly towards the north with some outbreaks of rain. Let's now backtrack to Tuesday evening.
00:42A little rain can't be ruled out across the central belt of Scotland down towards border
00:46regions, elsewhere some clearer skies, certainly that would be the case towards the north east
00:50of Scotland, central and eastern areas of England. More cloud always further west which
00:55will introduce a little bit of patchy rain into the early hours of the morning for Northern
00:58Ireland, Cumbria, the south west of Scotland. And where you do see those clear skies, single
01:03figures it's going to be a bit of a chilly start to the day come Wednesday morning but
01:07for many it will be bright. So let's pick up on the sunshine, central and northern areas
01:11of Scotland. Much of England and Wales getting away with some brighter weather, the cloud
01:16just coming and going as this rain gradually pushes towards the western side of Scotland
01:21clearing Northern Ireland through the afternoon, so a fine afternoon here with some sunny breaks.
01:27Hanging on to the sunshine across the far north east, but further south and west the
01:32winds pick up a little bit of strength, turning a bit gusty over the moors and this onshore
01:36breeze keeps temperatures along this east coast slightly lower, so 12 or 13 degrees
01:40celsius, 18 though in shelter across eastern parts of Wales. And we hang on to the rain
01:46across the central belt towards the western side of Scotland. Now this rain gradually
01:51weakens as it pushes ever north eastwards towards the northern isles overnight into
01:56Thursday morning. Again some clearer skies, but the breeze will keep temperatures a little
02:01bit higher, the air just mixing up a bit, so not as low as the early hours of Wednesday
02:06morning, Thursday morning though. Still temperatures in single figures across one or two spots,
02:10but it will again be a bright start to the day as this rain clears towards Shetland through
02:15the morning and into the afternoon. But notice waiting in the wings across the Scilly Isles,
02:19Cornwall, Devon, towards Pembrokeshire, an area of cloud and outbreaks of rain which
02:24could turn a little bit more intense through the morning into the afternoon. Brighter skies
02:29elsewhere, a breezy day, but this cloud and rain is pushing northwards. And in its wake
02:34we'll see some showers which could turn heavy as well as thundery. Hanging on to more cloud
02:39on Friday across Scotland and Northern Ireland with some outbreaks of rain. I'll see you later.
