00:00Hello there welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Over the next
00:0424 hours things are fairly wet with rain or showers and a fairly strong wind as
00:09well but things settle down from the south more about that in a moment. For
00:13the time being across Scotland and Northern Ireland this band of showery
00:16rain, a driving and strong wind extends from the west towards the northeast with
00:21some showers likely pushing down towards the far north of England, the far north
00:25of Wales. At the same time the cloud will thicken across central and southern
00:28parts of England and Wales with some rain arriving towards the west through
00:32the early hours of the morning but it will be a mild night leading into a
00:36relatively mild start to the day but a fairly lively one certainly in terms of
00:41showers across the north and the west of Scotland with the risk of thunder here.
00:44Some brighter skies perhaps for Aberdeen, Shear to start the day down towards
00:48Lothians as well as Borders. In shelter across Northern Ireland not a bad start
00:52but still some showers moving by and then we run into this cloud and rain
00:56anywhere across Wales as well as the Midlands extending towards the Humber
01:01and Wash. Further southeast a mostly dry start to the day and even a hint of
01:06brightness across Kent but the cloud will slowly thicken here. Now through the
01:10day this rain gradually tracks towards more eastern counties so certainly for
01:14East Anglia the home counties seeing some outbreaks of rain and embedded
01:18within this rain we could see some heavier bursts for a time as it clears
01:22the far north of Wales, northern counties of England. Now through the afternoon we
01:26continue to see a feed of showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:30eventually far north of England, northern parts of Wales and they could be heavy. A
01:34gusty wind particularly over the hills as well as the Highlands but some
01:37sunshine in between helping temperatures up to 16 across eastern Scotland, 19
01:43towards the far southeast of England. So that's the picture on Wednesday, slightly
01:49cooler than Tuesday. Come Thursday it's a similar situation we see a hint of
01:54sunshine towards the south, always a lot of clouds and always the chance of some
01:58showery rain across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. This weather front on
02:03Friday across the far north there tends to clear but still a breeze into the
02:08first part of the weekend across the northern half of the UK as high pressure
02:12extends from the south so what that means things turn a lot more settled
02:16through the weekend with the chance of some sunshine, a lighter wind and
02:20temperatures responding very nicely so turning warmer for many. I'll see you
02:24later, bye bye.
