00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. It's
00:04changeable over the next few days, wind, rain, showers, interspersed with some
00:09sunshine and also some chilly mornings, but all change through the weekend as we
00:14inherit a southerly wind. For the time being, two areas of concern, some severe
00:18gales across the north and the west of Scotland, that's where we'll see the
00:21strongest winds overnight and also some heavy rain. Also some rain which will
00:26become persistent and fairly relentless towards the southeast, so some surface
00:29water issues going into tomorrow across the southeast of England. In between,
00:33through tomorrow, the ice bars open up, which means not as windy, more in the way
00:38of some brighter weather, but always showers around. So through Wednesday
00:42evening, let's pick up on that area of low pressure first of all. That wind will
00:46be incredibly strong, severe gales as that rain gradually moves its way
00:50northwards. Showers for Northern Ireland, Northern England, as well as Wales and
00:54then an overhang of clouds and some rain down towards the southeast. Pulses of
00:58heavy rain embedded within that rain band through tonight and into tomorrow
01:02morning. It's going to be a cold night, particularly away from the rain towards
01:06the southeast and a chilly start to the day come Thursday morning, but there will
01:09be some brighter weather around eastern areas of Scotland, down towards Northern
01:14England. Still some showers, particularly along the coast here. You can see those
01:17showers filing in across Western Scotland as the more persistent rain
01:20leaves mainland Scotland, but you'll see a wet and windy day across Orkney as
01:25well as Shetland. And then this rain across the southeast pivots a little bit,
01:28extends towards Norfolk before it clears later on in the day. But even so, you can
01:33see for Kent as well as Essex, even Suffolk, you'll see the rain until
01:37probably sundown. Elsewhere some brighter skies, but those showers will turn a bit
01:41more persistent, heavy, frequent across the west as well as the southwest. Always a
01:45chance of thunder, but some sunshine further north and east. And temperatures
01:49typically coming in around 10 to 13 degrees Celsius. This area of low
01:54pressure will continue to feed some showers towards the far south, but most
01:57places seeing some brighter weather on Friday after a chilly start and a cold
02:00night into Saturday morning. And then all change again. This system will sweep in
02:05from the Atlantic, again delivering wind, some outbreaks of rain. Behind it we'll
02:10see some showers, low pressure then firmly in charge, but all change as we
02:14head into next week. Yes, it's still going to be windy and we'll still see some
02:18showers around, but the wind will change and coming up from the south, which will
02:21allow for some higher temperatures and the nights won't be as cold either. I'll
02:26see you later. Bye bye for now.
