00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Let's pick up first of all on the rain across central and southern parts of England and Wales.
00:09A warning is in force for that rain until 6pm this evening, all courtesy of a deep area of low pressure.
00:15Strongest winds will be along the coast, we could see gusts up to around 50mph, certainly gale force winds here,
00:20and the rain could cause some flooding with the risk of disruption to travel.
00:25But notice through Thursday afternoon and evening it clears towards the low countries
00:29and a quieter day all round on Friday.
00:32Now let's have a look at Thursday morning.
00:35If you're waking up across central and northern areas of Scotland, it's freezing cold.
00:39A frost here, but some brighter weather.
00:41More cloud further south across England, much of the Midlands, Wales, as well as Northern Ireland seeing some hazy sunshine.
00:47Here's that rain, anywhere from I'd say central, southern parts of Wales southwards.
00:53Some heavy pulses of rain through the morning, causing problems during the morning rush hour and also those strong winds.
00:59Tends to turn more showery through the afternoon.
01:01At the same time, thickening cloud brings showery bursts of rain to western parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:07clipping Wales as well as the West Country later.
01:09Clearer skies to end the day across central and northern areas of Scotland.
01:12A few showers continue across eastern counties of England, Northern England as well, seeing one or two.
01:18And through Thursday evening, this showery rain continues its passage eastwards.
01:22It will tend to fragment overnight, and what that means, some drier interludes coming through.
01:28At the same time, one or two showers just filing in from Irish Sea coast into the early hours of Friday morning.
01:34And again, the chance of a frost, particularly across the north where we could actually see some fog patches yet again.
01:39So a bit of a cloudy start for some on Friday morning, certainly towards more northern and eastern areas of England,
01:45southern parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland seeing that cloud break,
01:48and any showers across Wales as well as the West Country through Friday morning tending to ease.
01:52And that means a fine afternoon for most, with some sunny spells, a lighter breeze.
01:57But notice what's happening towards the southwest.
01:59The clouds will slowly thicken, the first of the rain arriving across the Scilly Isles,
02:03far southwest of Cornwall through the latter part of Friday.
02:06Before that though, temperatures arriving around 7 to 11, 12 degrees Celsius,
02:10and then it turns wet and windy on Saturday, blustery showers to follow on Sunday.
02:14See you later. Have a lovely day.
