00:00Two contrasting types of weather across the UK over the next 24 hours. Rain in
00:06the south, some strong winds, clear, crisp and cold across Scotland, in between a
00:11little more cloud, a few showery bursts. Let's just pick up on the rain coming in
00:15through the early hours of Thursday morning, all courtesy of yet another deep
00:18area of low pressure. Strong winds gusts along the coast could reach around 50
00:22miles an hour and this rain may cause some disruption to travel and even some
00:26localised flooding as it tracks towards the low countries through the latter
00:29part of a Thursday. So let's have a look now at the detail through Wednesday
00:34evening. Yet again we're seeing some showery bursts of rain for central
00:38western parts of Scotland down towards eastern counties. Bit of a breeze but
00:42that wind will ease as the showers fade. Across the far north of Scotland that's
00:46where we'll see a widespread frost even some fog patches but notice this rain
00:50arriving across the southwest of England, southern parts of Wales, central
00:53southern England through the early hours of the morning. The swirl of cloud, the
00:56rain, the strong winds causing problems on the roads as we head into Thursday
01:00morning rush hour. Cloud will spill ahead of it across Wales as well as the
01:04Midlands but for Scotland you'll see some clearer skies to start the day. A
01:07few showers lurking out there particularly across coastal districts and a legacy of
01:10cloud across central zone of Scotland down towards northern England. Now for
01:15Northern Ireland perhaps some hazy sunshine to start today, mostly dry here
01:18not the case anywhere from Mid Wales southwards. So this rain zone here will
01:24continue its passage eastwards nudging further northwards as we head through
01:28the first part of Thursday morning. Strongest winds will be along the coast
01:32some high waves associated with this as well. Heaviest burst towards the
01:36southeast as well as the Channel Islands through the morning. The rain should just
01:41pulse towards the southern part of the Midlands before it retreats across Wales
01:45through the afternoon. Some showers though ahead of it towards the north
01:49across northern counties and some showery bursts of rain will come in
01:52across Northern Ireland through the morning into the afternoon clipping the
01:55western side of Scotland. Clear, dry and cold for central and northern areas of
01:59Scotland with some sunshine but more clouds across southern Scotland. So
02:03that's the picture through Thursday afternoon. Through Thursday evening and
02:08overnight this band of showery rain continues its passage eastwards. All of
02:13this wet weather will slowly ease as we head into Friday as a ridge of high
02:17pressure extends from the south. So as you can see as we head into Friday
02:21morning it does dry up. So a widespread frost to start the day on Friday across
02:26central northern areas of Scotland and some clearer skies further south as well
02:30as west. A little showery rain to start the day across the far southeast but
02:34that will tend to ease away. So Friday's looking like a better day all round. Yes
02:39still some showers filing in across Wales as well as the West Country. One or
02:43two clipping the western side of Scotland the far north but in between
02:47some clearer weather, some sunshine, a lighter breeze and we'll lose the
02:51showers towards the west as we head through the latter part of the day on
02:54Friday. Temperatures then climbing to around 11 to 13 degrees Celsius. A
02:58snapshot of your weather on Saturday. It turns wet and windy with blustery
03:03showers to follow on Sunday. More details of the 10-day trend check out our
03:08YouTube channel. Ada McGiven is your guy this week delivering the details. See you
03:12later.
