00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. We'll see a mixed
00:03bag of weather across the UK through this bank holiday weekend. Some sunshine, some
00:07showers and feeling fairly warm when the sun comes through. The reason for the mixed conditions
00:11is down to the fact we've got high pressure towards the east of the UK, lower pressure
00:15out towards the west. That's giving us light winds, a slack pressure gradient across the
00:19UK, but hence those showers developing at times too. The focus for the worst of the
00:22showers this afternoon, heavy locally thundery downpours across Northern Ireland, parts of
00:26Wales and the north-west of England. Whereas down towards the south-east of England, up
00:30towards the far north-east of Scotland, here we'll see the best of the sunshine. Quite
00:33chilly though up towards the north-east, no better than 6 or 7 degrees across the Northern
00:37Isles into Aberdeen. Whereas down towards the south and south-east, a bit warmer, temperatures
00:41into the mid to high teens. We could even squeak a 20 degrees across the south-east,
00:45that's a few degrees above the seasonal average. As we go into the evening and through the
00:49overnight period, those showers continue out towards the west and become a bit more widespread
00:53across northern and western parts of the UK. Still some heavy locally thundery downpours
00:57to contend with. Whereas down towards the south-east and up towards the far north-east
01:01of the UK, here we'll see some clear spells, mixed with low clouds, some clear spells and
01:04a bit of mist and fog. But under those clear spells towards the south-east, temperatures
01:07dipping to around 6 degrees and notably chilly up towards the north-east of Scotland. Could
01:12even see a touch of frost here by Sunday morning, with lows close to freezing. As for Sunday
01:18itself, those showers will get going across northern and western parts from the word go
01:22and they'll become a bit more widespread across northern and western areas as we go through
01:25the day. Again some heavy locally thundery downpours developing, particularly across
01:28Northern Ireland as we head into the afternoon. Whereas down towards the south-east and for
01:32time up towards the north-east, we'll see some sunshine. But generally speaking, it'll
01:36be the south-east that holds on to the best of the fine weather. Here temperatures climbing
01:39quite nicely once again into the high teens Celsius, 17, 18, locally 19 degrees. Whereas
01:44towards the north-east it stays chilly at just 6 or 7 Celsius. As we go through the
01:49evening, those showers start to migrate their way eastwards across the UK. So I think some
01:53showers working their way into the south-east. Whereas out towards the west and north-west,
01:57they'll start to ease down through Sunday evening. And that takes us into a pretty showy
02:01picture on Bank Holiday Monday in the east and south-east of the UK. Some locally heavy
02:06downpours across the east and south-east. Some showy rain across the far north of Scotland,
02:10but elsewhere plenty of fine weather to contend with. That's pretty much it for me, but I'll
02:14see you soon. Take care, bye bye.
