00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. We saw some showers
00:03towards the north and west of the UK on Sunday, some thunderstorms in places, particularly
00:08across Northern Ireland and the south of Scotland, and a warning stays in force there until nine
00:11o'clock on Sunday evening. But overnight, into the early hours of Monday, the focus
00:15for showers will be more towards the north and east of the UK, so Scotland, northern
00:19and eastern parts of England, seeing quite a few showers going into the early hours.
00:22Whereas out towards the west, particularly across Northern Ireland, Wales and the south-west
00:26of England, more on the way of clear spells developing here, and turning quite chilly
00:29in some rural spots out towards the west and south-west. Whereas across towns and cities,
00:33temperatures generally hold up in the range 5 to 10 degrees.
00:37Into Bank Holiday Monday, and the focus for showers on Monday will be more out towards
00:41central and eastern parts of England, still some heavy, locally thundering ones around
00:45here, and with a northerly breeze into Scotland, more cloud and some showers also feeding in
00:49from the north into many mainland areas here.
00:52So the best for the sunshine on Monday, out towards the west and south-west, a much better
00:56day than on Sunday, across Northern Ireland, Wales and the south-west of England. And in
01:00the sunshine, temperatures doing quite well still for the time of year, peaking at 16
01:04to 19 degrees. 19 in London, 66 in Fahrenheit. But notice towards the north-east, quite chilly
01:09at just 6 to 10 degrees.
01:12Into the evening on Monday, and into the early hours of Tuesday, still some showers out towards
01:16the north and east of the UK, maybe though towards the north and east of Scotland, running
01:20down eastern counties of England. So out towards the west, and across many central parts, and
01:24mainly dry night on Monday night. But notice the blue colours on the chart, indicating
01:28some chilly temperatures. You can see a touch of frost in some rural spots by the early
01:32hours of Tuesday morning.
01:34That takes us then into a much quieter day on Tuesday on the whole. Plenty of sunshine
01:38around, just a bit of patchy cloud around to turn the sunshine hazy at times. But notice
01:41still one or two showers up towards the far north, and running down the eastern coast
01:45of the UK. Temperatures a bit cooler than in recent days, but still not doing too badly
01:50for the time of year, peaking at 15 to 17 degrees in the south. 17 is into the low 60s
01:55in Fahrenheit, near a 9 to 13 degrees across Scotland.
01:59We hold on to plenty of fine weather, with high pressure generally dominating during
02:02the middle part of the week. But notice wet and windy weather trying to push in from the
02:06south-west, and that will turn things more unsettled as we go through Thursday and Friday.
02:10So a downturn in the weather as we go through the latter stages of the coming week.
02:14That's all pretty much it from me, but of course you can keep tuned to The Metropolis
02:17forecast by following us on social media. I'll see you soon, take care, bye for now.
