00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. We've got some quite
00:03heavy showers to contend with across the north and west of the UK through the afternoon today,
00:07particularly across Northern Ireland and the south of Scotland. A weather warning in force
00:11of thunderstorms here until nine o'clock this evening. But showers elsewhere across the
00:15north and west could affect the Tentors, for example, down across parts of Devon there.
00:20The best of the sunshine is over the south-east of England and here temperatures climbing
00:23to 18 or 19 Celsius. 19 there in London is 66 in Fahrenheit. Quite chilly though, up
00:29towards the far north-east of Scotland. As we head through the evening into the overnight
00:33period, those showers will ease towards the north-west, become more focused across central
00:37eastern parts of the UK and some showery rain also pushing down into northern Scotland.
00:41So the best of the clear spells as we go through the overnight period, as for western and south-western
00:46areas. It could turn quite chilly here, certainly in rural spots, temperatures in the mid to
00:49low single figures in one or two places. Generally though, in towns and cities, holding up at
00:546 to 10 degrees. As we go through the day on Monday, showers
00:58more concentrated across central and eastern parts of England, some showery rain also pushing
01:02south across mainland Scotland. So again, the best of the sunshine generally out towards
01:06the west and south-west. A much better day here than on Sunday. And in the sunshine generally,
01:10temperatures not doing too badly, away from the far north-east of Scotland where it stays
01:14quite cold. But elsewhere, temperatures mid to high teens, again peaking at 19 Celsius
01:18in London at 66 in Fahrenheit. During the evening, the showers will start to ease more
01:23and more widely, becoming concentrated towards the far east and south-east of England, possibly
01:27one or two up towards the northern isles as well. But on the whole, a quieter picture.
01:31Ridge of high pressure started to build in from the west, so more and more clear spells
01:35around. And that ridge of high pressure dominates during the middle part of the week, so plenty
01:38of fine weather before rain approaches from the south-west through Thursday and for the
01:42end of the week, and becoming windier too by that stage.
01:44That's pretty much it from me for now though. Of course, you can keep tuned to The Meteorist
01:48forecast by following us on social media. I'll see you soon. Take care, bye bye for
01:52now.
