00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Rain or showers over the next 24 hours into Wednesday, although the south-east will see
00:10some drier, brighter weather through Wednesday afternoon.
00:13Currently, through Tuesday evening, a band of rain straddles the country north to south.
00:19It's pushing eastwards, so most places seeing a dose of wet weather overnight, with showers
00:24to follow.
00:25Strongest winds will be across the Outer Hebrides, Irish Sea coast, and quite a keen breeze extending
00:31from the eastern side of Scotland up towards the Northern Isles, where again, we'll see
00:35some outbreaks of rain.
00:37Temperatures then holding up overnight, coming in around 11 to 14 degrees Celsius.
00:42So that leads into a bit of a wet start to the day across eastern parts of Scotland.
00:46Further west, you may even see some brighter skies for a time.
00:50Still showers, though, lurking across the Western Isles.
00:53More rain, showery rain at that, coming in across the south-west of Scotland down towards
00:57the Isle of Man, clipping Wales as well as the West Country, and a bit of a showery start
01:02for Northern Ireland.
01:03Now, across the central zone of the country, that's the Midlands up towards Northern England,
01:07always more cloud, with some patchy rain extending from Sussex across towards East Anglia and
01:14clipping Yorkshire as well as Aberdeenshire.
01:16It's moving quite swiftly towards the North Sea, a legacy of cloud here, but certainly
01:22some brighter skies through the afternoon.
01:25At the same time, showers will develop.
01:27They'll develop in situ, become slow-moving, and so if you catch one, it could last for
01:32a while, also with the risk of thunder.
01:35And with any heavier bursts, the winds will turn quite gusty.
01:39But notice across eastern counties of England, drier skies through the end of the day, and
01:44across England and Wales, those showers become a bit more scattered, always frequent further
01:48north and west.
01:50Most temperatures in any sunshine come in around 20 to 22, 23 degrees Celsius fresher
01:56across western Scotland, as well as Northern Ireland, 17 or 18 here.
02:01Here's your outlook through Thursday.
02:03Again, it's the chance of those showers just coming and going.
02:07They'll be heavy at times, slow-moving, more cloud across the north-east of Scotland, with
02:11some outbreaks of rain tending to clear through the afternoon.
02:15So here's your broader picture through Thursday and into Friday.
02:19Low pressure never too far away.
02:20In fact, the winds will pick up further on Friday, associated with some showery bursts
02:25of rain across much of the country, but then slight hints of something more settled coming
02:30in from the south through Friday and into the weekend, as more cloud arrives across
02:35the western side of Scotland into the weekend as well, with some outbreaks of rain.
02:39So all in all, yes, still some showers lurking around through Saturday and Sunday, a chance
02:44of sunshine and feeling warm in that sun as temperatures rise into the 20s.
