00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04So, low pressure does remain very much in charge of our weather over the next couple
00:08of days.
00:09Situated out towards the northwest of the UK, it gradually moves its way towards us
00:12over the coming few days, pushing its way eastwards, but bringing some frontal systems
00:16that will bring some showers and outbreaks of rain through the next couple of days.
00:21The isobars slowly space apart as we head towards the middle part of the week, so those
00:25winds turning a little lighter, but with low pressure in charge, that does mean some showers
00:29and some outbreaks of rain.
00:32Through the rest of this evening though, the heavy showers that we've seen across parts
00:35of Scotland and northern England will gradually start to ease as we head into the early hours
00:39of Tuesday morning, but then it's all eyes down towards the southwest as we see this
00:43area of cloud and rain pushing its way north and eastwards into the start of Tuesday.
00:48Staying very mild under this cloud and rain, temperatures here around 12, 13, perhaps even
00:5214 degrees to start on Tuesday, but under those clearer skies, definitely turning a
00:56little chillier, perhaps as low as 6 or 7 in places.
01:00So a chilly, but a bright start for parts of eastern Scotland, northeast England, even
01:04southern and eastern parts of England through Tuesday morning, however, that quite quickly
01:08replaced by this area of cloud and rain that will continue to push its way north and eastwards
01:13into Tuesday afternoon.
01:15Through the afternoon, we do see some showers developing across Northern Ireland, parts
01:19of Wales, southern and central England as well, and again, these could turn heavy with
01:22some hail and thunder mixed in.
01:25Temperatures still remaining around about average for the time of year on Tuesday, around
01:2917 or 18 degrees in the south, and feeling quite muggy under all of that cloud and rain
01:33with some humid conditions.
01:36Through Tuesday evening, the area of rain continues to push its way north and eastwards
01:41as we go into the start of Wednesday, perhaps lingering for a time across parts of Scotland
01:45and some heavy showers quite widely, with some further outbreaks of rain across southern
01:49parts of England to start on Wednesday, however, generally turning a little drier through the
01:53early hours of the morning, but still staying quite mild overnight.
01:56We could see those temperatures quite widely holding up in the double figures, particularly
01:59in the towns and cities, although some rural spots under those clearer spells perhaps dropping
02:03just a little lower.
02:06That does mean that Wednesday generally starts a little bit drier for most of us.
02:09There will be some early sunny spells through the morning, perhaps a little cloudier across
02:13western parts of Scotland, but as we head towards the afternoon, there'll be plenty
02:17of showers developing again.
02:19The heaviest showers across eastern parts of Scotland, north-east England, again with
02:23some hail and thunder mixed in, so there could be some localised flooding after all the recent
02:27rainfall.
02:28There will be some sunny spells between those showers though, and temperatures may be up
02:30a touch on Tuesday, perhaps 19 or 20 degrees across the south, but with a northerly wind
02:36perhaps feeling just a little fresher across the north and the west.
02:39As we then go in towards the second half of the week is when the area of low pressure
02:44pushes out towards the North Sea, and it's replaced by this area of high pressure out
02:48towards the Atlantic.
02:49That slowly moves its way towards us through the latter half of the week, still sticking
02:52with that northerly wind across the UK, but it does look like it's bringing something
02:56more settled to end the working week and to start meteorological summer, which starts
03:01on Saturday on the 1st of June.
03:03So perhaps something a little drier and a little more settled on the horizon.
