00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Storm Kathleen does continue
00:05to bring some strong winds through Saturday evening and into Sunday. Currently situated
00:09out towards the north-west of the UK, it slowly pushes its way northwards through the back
00:13end of the weekend and into the start of the new week, but then it's all eyes down towards
00:17the south-west as another area of low pressure brings further spells of wet and windy weather
00:22to much of the UK through Monday night and into Tuesday.
00:26And to the strong winds that we're likely to see from Kathleen, mostly confined to northern
00:30parts as we go into the start of Sunday, but still remaining very windy quite widely across
00:34the UK. Through Sunday daytime, it's north-western parts of Scotland that could see gusts of
00:3960-70mph and cause some travel disruption here, but some blustery showers across the
00:44rest of the UK could bring gusts of 40-50mph.
00:49Back to Saturday evening and some heavy and blustery showers pushing up from the south-west.
00:53On that strong south-westerly breeze, they will move through relatively quickly but could
00:56cause some localised flooding across parts of Wales and south-west England. It will gradually
01:01turn a little drier across southern parts into the early hours of Sunday morning, but
01:05still remaining very blustery and those strong winds will help to keep temperatures quite
01:08mild across the south, maybe 10 or 11 degrees, and still remaining in the high single figures
01:13across northern parts.
01:15So a briefly drier start for much of England and Wales on Sunday morning, but that really
01:20doesn't last long. Heavy and blustery showers pushing in from the west as we go through
01:24Sunday morning and into the afternoon. South-eastern parts of England always holding on to the
01:28best of the sunshine through the day, but those heavy showers could cause some localised
01:33flooding and some travel disruption as we go through the afternoon. North-western parts
01:37of Scotland still seeing those strongest winds through the afternoon around 60-70mph, and
01:42it will be another mild day on Sunday as well. Perhaps not quite as mild as we saw on Saturday,
01:46but still highs of 16 or 17 degrees across the south-east, and a little bit closer to
01:50average further north, maybe 10 to 12 degrees.
01:55Through Sunday evening, showers do continue for a time, but they eventually clear their
01:58way eastwards overnight, so generally turning a little drier for Wales, central and northern
02:03parts of England, and the showers across Northern Ireland and parts of western Scotland will
02:06gradually ease too, but it's all eyes out towards the south-west, turning increasingly
02:11cloudy for Wales and southern parts of England through the early hours of Monday morning
02:14as this next system arrives to the start of the new working week. It will be staying
02:19very mild under all that cloud and rain as well. Temperatures here around 9, 10, maybe
02:24even 11 degrees, but perhaps a little cooler further north under those clearer skies.
02:29So under those clear skies, that does leave a bit of a brighter start for Scotland and
02:34Northern Ireland. Plenty of sunshine through the first part of the morning, but it really
02:37doesn't last long. That next system pushes up northwards as we go through Monday morning.
02:42The rain turning particularly heavy across Northern Ireland, Wales and south-west England
02:46too, so further impacts are possible here. Southeastern parts of the UK still again holding
02:52on to the best of that sunshine, and perhaps with some lighter winds here, it will feel
02:55a little more pleasant than recent days. Temperatures still well above average here around 16 or
03:0017 degrees, but again, closer to average further north around 10 to 12 degrees.
03:06So that area of low pressure does bring an unsettled start to the week, but there are
03:09some hints through the second half of the week that we might see something a little
03:13more drier. But to find out more about that, make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel.
03:16Bye bye.
