00:00Good afternoon and welcome to our latest weather update for the Met Office. So there has been
00:05some cloud around today, but also some sunshine too. We've got high pressure situated down
00:09towards the southwest of the UK, but frontal systems pushing their way south and eastwards
00:13will bring a focus for some cloud and rain overnight tonight and into the start of Monday.
00:18We're then in this northerly flow through the start of the week. That'll bring plenty
00:21of showers with high pressure close by towards the southwest, but low pressure waiting in
00:25the wings out in the Atlantic through the latter half of the week.
00:28Back to the rest of today though, and plenty of showers around, particularly across parts
00:33of Scotland and northern England, and plenty of rain as well across parts of Northern Ireland.
00:37This will slowly push its way south and eastwards through the rest of Sunday.
00:41The best of the sunshine across southwestern parts of England through this afternoon, and
00:45there will be some sunny spells between those showers across parts of Scotland too, but
00:49with a northerly wind across Scotland, temperatures here feeling really quite chilly for the time
00:53of year, only 10 to 12 degrees in places.
00:56Further south, still a little below average as well, maybe only 18, 19, perhaps 20 degrees
01:01in places through this afternoon.
01:04As we go through the rest of Sunday, that area of rain across parts of Northern Ireland
01:07continues to push its way south and eastwards, affecting Wales, central northern parts of
01:11England overnight Sunday and into the start of Monday.
01:15It will then turn a little drier across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland too through
01:19the early hours of Monday morning, and turning quite chilly here under those clear spells.
01:23We could see rural temperatures dropping down into the low single figures, with perhaps
01:26a touch of grass frost in places, but further south and further east, staying that little
01:30bit milder under all that cloud and rain.
01:33So that does mean a cloudy and damp start for much of England and Wales on Monday.
01:37The heavy rain here could perhaps cause some disruption through the morning rush hour,
01:40but it does slowly clear its way towards the southeast through Monday morning, and is soon
01:44replaced by heavy and blustery showers from the north, these particularly heavy across
01:48parts of Scotland, while we could see some hail and thunder mixed in too.
01:52Across Northern Ireland, Wales and southwestern parts of England, plenty of sunny spells though,
01:56but with that northerly wind, temperatures disappointing for the time of year.
02:00In the south again, only 18 or 19 degrees at best, and further north, 12 to 14 degrees.
02:07Through the rest of Monday evening, the showers do continue for a time, particularly across
02:11parts of Scotland, northern and eastern parts of England, and those showers could still
02:15be heavy as we go in towards the evening, but further west, with high pressure slowly
02:19trying to be in charge, it will turn a little bit drier, so a drier start to the day for
02:23many of us on Tuesday.
02:25Tuesday then does end a little drier, perhaps on Wednesday as well, but there is further
02:29rain on the way, so make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel to keep up to date
02:32with our latest weather videos.
02:34Bye bye!
