00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So, it's a bit
00:05of a chillier start this morning, but quite a blustery start with plenty of showers around.
00:09All thanks to this area of low pressure out towards the east of the UK, bringing with
00:13it some north-westerly winds and some colder conditions compared to what we've seen over
00:17the weekend. Higher pressure does remain close by out towards the west of the UK and there
00:21are some hints that we'll see this moving closer towards us as we head through the end
00:25of the week. Back to what we've got out there at the moment
00:28though and plenty of showers around this morning. Those heaviest bands of showers slowly pushing
00:32their way south and eastwards through the rest of this morning and then we will start
00:36to see some sunshine developing behind. There will still be plenty of showers around though,
00:40these particularly heavy across northern parts of England, Northern Ireland and parts of
00:44Scotland too where we could see some sleet and snow over the hills. With that brisk north-westerly
00:50breeze temperatures will be down compared to what we saw over the weekend, only around
00:5412 or 13 degrees in the south and struggling to reach double figures further north. But
00:58if we factor in that brisk north-westerly breeze it really will be feeling quite chilly,
01:02struggling to feel much above 3 or 4 degrees in the north and only feeling around 6 or
01:077 degrees in the south. Through the rest of Monday evening there will still be plenty
01:12of showers around and they'll continue to push their way southwards across the UK, overnight
01:17Monday and into the start of Tuesday, again turning particularly heavy across northern
01:21parts of England and parts of Scotland too. The showers will gradually start to ease through
01:26the early hours of Tuesday morning though and there will be plenty of clear skies around
01:29and with those winds turning a little bit lighter it will be another chilly night to
01:33come and a chilly start to the day on Tuesday. Temperatures widely in the single figures,
01:38perhaps as low as 2 or 3, maybe even lower in some rural spots across parts of Scotland
01:43and only around 5 or 6 degrees in the south. That does mean that Tuesday will be a chilly
01:49start but it will be a dry start for most of us. There will be plenty of sunshine around
01:53through the morning, maybe a few showers across some coastal areas and maybe the odd one or
01:57two bubbling up across parts of England through Tuesday afternoon. But there will be plenty
02:01more sunshine around, particularly across parts of Wales and northern parts of England.
02:05The winds will be a little bit lighter on Tuesday as well and temperatures around about
02:09average, maybe 13 or 14 degrees in the south and 10 or 11 degrees in the north. But with
02:13those lighter winds and a bit more sunshine, perhaps not feeling quite as cold as Monday.
02:18Plenty of showers still around as we go into the start of Wednesday though, but the hints
02:22of higher pressure returning are strong as we go through the end of the week. So keep
02:26up to date via our YouTube channel to find out more details about that later in the week.
02:30Bye bye.
