Tuesday 27 - National weather forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon. There's a bit more cloud around today than yesterday. However, it
00:04should stay dry through much of the day for southeastern areas. Different story
00:08though for the north as we've got a weather front sinking southeastwards
00:12through today. Started in Northern Ireland and Scotland,
00:15it'll sink into parts of Northern England and Wales through the rest of
00:18the day. Once that rain does clear though for Northern Ireland and much of
00:21Scotland, it will turn brighter through this afternoon but there will be some
00:24blustery showers pushing in from the north and west. The most frequent
00:27across northwestern areas, eastern areas of Scotland, parts of the borders as well
00:31as eastern areas of Northern Ireland should stay largely dry this afternoon
00:34once this band of rain clears and there will be some sunshine later. However, it
00:39will cloud over for parts of Wales and the Midlands and there will be some
00:42drizzly rain to come. Different story though for the south and east as I said
00:46staying largely dry through the day but the cloud will thicken the further north
00:50you are in that area. Under the cloud though it's going to still feel fairly
00:54cold. Highs of only around 8 or 9 degrees. It's about average for the time of year
00:58but it is a little colder than we're used to. The cold feel will continue once
01:03again tonight. That drizzly rain will sink into the southeast as well later on
01:07but for many it will be a dry night where you can see quite extensive cloud
01:11developing. That's mist and fog and low cloud so it could be a bit of a murky
01:15start to the day on Wednesday morning. With a bit more cloud around it's not
01:19gonna be quite as cold. Frost will be limited but it will still feel fairly
01:22chilly and if we do see any holes in this cloud we could still see a frost
01:26developing quite easily. So a bit of a gloomy chilly start to the day on
01:31Wednesday but there will be some early sunshine particularly for eastern areas
01:35of the UK. However, further north and west it will turn quite much cloudier and
01:40wetter towards lunchtime as a band of quite persistent rain arrives into the
01:44west. It'll turn heavy for parts of the hills of Wales, the southwest as
01:49well as coastal areas for a time. Again it should stay largely dry across the
01:54southeast for much of the day. Everywhere though we'll see a southerly wind
01:58direction developing. They'll be dragging in milder air than today so it will be
02:02feeling milder despite more in the way of cloud and some more persistent rain.
02:07That mild theme will continue as well into Thursday before temperatures dip
02:11down again for a colder end to the week. You can find more details though on the
02:15Outlook by checking out our deep dive later on today. See you later.
