Transcript
00:00Good afternoon. After a fairly bright start to the day, cloud will bubble up a little
00:04this afternoon and there is a risk of some heavy showers for some of us. But I think
00:08many of us should get away with a fairly dry day. But you can see there's a large swathe
00:12of cloud up to the north of the country. That's where low pressure is close by. That cloud
00:17is wrapped around that area of low pressure. That's where the focus for showers and rain
00:22will be. There's also a northerly wind coming into parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:28as well. So it will feel a little bit cooler here than elsewhere. But for many of us, it
00:32should stay fairly dry and bright through the afternoon. But as I said, a risk of showers,
00:35particularly across eastern areas of Scotland, northeastern England, as well as the Midlands
00:39later on this afternoon. There is a possibility we could see some thunderstorms as well. But
00:44as I said, for most of us, a fairly dry and bright day. And actually across the south
00:48and east, we could see temperatures climbing to around 24 degrees, a little above average
00:53for the time of year. But most of us in the high teens, which is around average. So it
00:57should be a fairly bright end to the day. Some late sunshine to come this evening. Showers,
01:03though, still continuing across eastern areas of Scotland in particular, where we're closer
01:07to that low pressure. It will turn drier through the night. We'll see clear skies for many
01:11areas, but also a risk of some mist and fog developing where we have seen any showers
01:16through today. So potentially a bit of mist and fog around first thing. But for most of
01:20us, it should be a bright start to the day on Tuesday and temperatures will be around
01:2511 or 12 degrees for many towns and cities. That's similar to where we were this morning.
01:30So quite a similar start tomorrow. Best of sunshine in the morning. Then we will see
01:34cloud thicken through the day. And I think Tuesday is actually going to be a cloudier
01:38day than today in general, as we do see this area of rain approach from the south and east.
01:43Now, this may clip the far southeast of England, parts of Kent, Sussex towards Essex as well
01:49to bring a risk of some very heavy rains. That's worth keeping an eye on if you're in
01:53those areas. But elsewhere, many of us should stay dry and bright. It will be cloudier,
01:58as I said. But there is a risk of showers this time across more northwestern areas of
02:02England, parts of western Scotland and northwestern England in particular. That's where the greatest
02:07risk of those heavier showers are. We've still got this northerly wind that's going to be
02:11bringing a fairly cool feel to the far north of Scotland through the day as well. And for
02:17most of us, temperatures will be a little bit down compared to today into the mid teens,
02:22possibly the low 20s in the best of the sunshine across the far south. But a bit of a cooler
02:28and cloudier day to come, but certainly not too bad at all. If you do escape any of those
02:34showers, showers will likely continue through Tuesday evening, but it does tend to turn
02:38a little bit drier as the evening progresses. You can see we've got this clear spell of
02:42weather arriving for the middle of the week, and that means there's more sunshine on the
02:46cards to come for Wednesday and Thursday. But you can find more details on all of that
02:51on our latest week ahead video on YouTube. See you later.
