Transcript
00:00Good evening. It will turn much warmer and sunnier across southern areas to end the week,
00:04but for the time being, there's still some pretty heavy rain to come for much of England
00:08and Wales. We've got weather warnings in force throughout tonight. You can see some localised
00:13flooding and surface water is quite likely by Tuesday morning. The heaviest rain will
00:17likely extend across parts of north-eastern England towards north Wales as well overnight
00:22tonight. To the south of that, there's still a risk of some outbreaks of rain, but I think
00:25the worst of it will clear through the night. Drier across the far north as well, but still
00:30quite a lot of cloud around overnight tonight. We've got fairly mild air as well, so it's
00:34going to be a milder night compared to recent nights. However, across the far north, it
00:39could be slightly fresher where skies remain the clearest. So some bright sunshine to start
00:43the day across some western areas of Wales, but elsewhere, another cloudy start and probably
00:48quite a damp start as well as this rain pivots around and finally clears away to the North
00:52Sea through the afternoon. However, behind it, there's a risk of some heavy showers developing
00:57particularly across north-eastern areas of the UK and they're extending from Newcastle
01:02to Aberdeen, have a rain warning in force through Tuesday afternoon into the evening.
01:08But from the west, it is turning much drier and brighter as we head into Tuesday afternoon.
01:13That's because it is turning and we've got high pressure building in. So temperatures
01:16around the mid to the high teens, low 20s at best across southern areas, we could see
01:2122 degrees. It's a little bit below average, but as I said, is turning much drier through
01:26the rest of the week. We've got a ridge of high pressure building in for Wednesday. So
01:30for many of us, it is looking like a much better day on Wednesday compared to Tuesday.
01:36So as that rain clears away to the east, replaced by that high pressure, skies will clear on
01:40Tuesday evening. So a fairly fine end to the day and a clear night. So it's going to be
01:44a colder night as well compared to tonight. Temperatures dipping down as low as 5 degrees
01:50in rural areas. Towns and cities, though, still holding up in those double digits and
01:54there will be more in the way of sunshine to start the day on Wednesday. I think the
01:58best of the sunshine will be first thing. There will be a bit more cloud bubbling up
02:02through the day and that could allow the odd shower to break out here and there. But the
02:06showers don't look too heavy and they shouldn't spoil any outings you've got planned. So much
02:10drier and brighter day to come on Wednesday. As a result, temperatures climbing as well
02:14quite widely into the low 20s across the UK. In the south, we could see highs of 25 degrees
02:20potentially on Wednesday. So certainly much closer to where it should be for this point
02:25in the summer. Looking further ahead to Thursday, it looks even warmer. Highs of 26 or 27 degrees
02:32are possible. We can find more details on that on our full week ahead forecast with
02:36Alex Burkhill on YouTube. See you soon. Bye bye.
