00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. A pretty fine day for many of us,
00:04not feeling too bad at all in any sunshine, but across the north and west there's still
00:08some quite frequent showers and a bit of a brisk westerly wind to come through the day.
00:13Heavy showers will likely affect north and western Scotland, moving into eastern areas
00:17of Scotland later on. Still a risk of some showers across some areas of northern England,
00:21Wales, the southwest, but I think showers will be much fewer and further in between
00:25compared to yesterday, and there'll be more in the way of sunshine, particularly the further
00:30south and east you are. In the sunshine it will feel warm, but it is going to be a fresher day
00:34than yesterday. Today that's because we've got a new air mass, fresher air that's moved in
00:39overnight. So temperatures at best 23 or 24 degrees across the south and east, but widely
00:44will be in the high teens, low 20s. That's a round average for the time of year, but we've got that
00:48brisk westerly wind in the north, it will feel that much cooler. Room for another cool night
00:54tonight as clear skies develop quite widely through this evening, so quite a fine end to the
00:59day. As I said, temperatures will fall away quite quickly through this evening as the sun is starting
01:04to set much earlier. So in rural areas we'll be down in single figures, some towns and cities
01:09could see temperatures as low as 8 or 9 degrees as well, but that will mean we're in for a fine
01:14start to the day on Friday morning. Potentially a few patches of mist and fog around, but other
01:19than that it's going to be a clear and bright start to the day, and it will still feel warm
01:23enough in any sunshine. The winds look quite light widely across the UK through Friday as well,
01:28away from the far north of Scotland, but there's still a bit of a breeze through Friday. So in the
01:34sunshine, highs of 24, 25 degrees in the south, further north around 18 to 19 degrees. So not bad
01:42at all, particularly as we haven't had many widely settled days through this summer so far. And
01:48Saturday looks like a similar day. As we head into Sunday though, a threat of some showers arriving
01:53from the south and east, but you can find out more details on that in our latest 10-day trend
01:57on YouTube. Have a great day, see you soon.
