00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04The second half of this weekend is looking largely dry for many of us, some brightness
00:09around 2 and it's all courtesy of this area of high pressure which will build in during
00:13the course of Sunday. It doesn't last for too long, further weather fronts from the
00:18Atlantic will however move in as we go into Monday.
00:22Back to the here and now, we've still got this area of cloud and rain across parts of
00:25Wales and northern England. That will sink its way south-eastwards as the night goes
00:29on, weakening as it does so, so very little rainfall on it at the end of the night down
00:35towards the south-east. To the north, largely clear skies across parts of northern England
00:40and southern Scotland, but for northern Scotland, Northern Ireland, continuing here to see some
00:45showers throughout the night. Under the clear skies, temperatures just falling into single
00:49figures in the countryside, but under the cloud down towards the south, temperatures
00:53not much lower than around 15 or 16 degrees in places.
00:57So we do start off Sunday rather grey across the south, some outbreaks of rain still, maybe
01:02the odd heavier burst here and there, but conditions do improve here as the morning
01:07goes on and for many parts of England and Wales come the afternoon, it's going to be
01:11largely dry with some bright swells. Scotland and Northern Ireland, a showery start here
01:15but even here conditions improve as the day goes on, the showers becoming fewer and further
01:20between. I think the best of the sunshine come at the end of the afternoon will be across
01:24parts of western Northern Ireland and down towards Devon and Cornwall. For most, it will
01:29be feeling a little bit cooler compared to Saturday and it's all thanks to more of the
01:33north-westerly wind. I think highs at best reaching around 21 or 22 degrees across the
01:39south. Into the evening, a lot of the cloud melting
01:42away, so a fine end to the day for most of us. But out towards the west, we're starting
01:47to see the next weather front move in, turning cloudier and wet across parts of Northern
01:52Ireland. The rain just reaching western Scotland may be just fringing the west of Wales come
01:57the end of the night too, but to the east of that remaining dry and clear. And again,
02:02just in the clear skies, we may well just see a few spots just dip into single figures
02:06come the end of the night. So Monday does start off largely bright across
02:11many central and eastern areas, but the cloud and rain across the west will spread its way
02:15eastwards as the day goes on. Heaviest of the rain will be across the north, very little
02:20rainfall actually reaching the very far south of England. And then come the end of the afternoon,
02:26we start to see some improved weather across the west with some bright spells across Northern
02:30Ireland, Wales and southwest England. Temperatures very similar to what we'll be experiencing
02:36during Sunday, so I think at best highs reaching around 21 or 22 across the south. Further
02:41north, we're generally looking at the mid, possibly high teens.
