00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office weather forecast. Well, for some of us, tonight
00:05offers another opportunity to see the northern lights. Geomagnetic activity will be a little
00:10bit weaker than it was on Friday night, but for the northern half of the UK, certainly
00:15another excellent opportunity to get out and look at the northern lights. To the south,
00:20may be a little bit more difficult compared to the night just gone, but if you do have
00:24a long exposure camera, you probably will still see the lights from time to time. So
00:30a little bit more detail on the weather for tonight. For many parts, it's a fine end to
00:34Saturday with some clear skies. Some low cloud and some mist will seep in to the east from
00:40the North Sea as the night goes on. So probably the best opportunities here will be around
00:45midnight before the cloud rolls in. A few showers may well just creep in to the far
00:50west of Northern Ireland too, but for most of us, it should be a dry night and a mild
00:54one. Temperatures in most towns and cities stay firmly in double figures. So we do start
01:00Sunday off on a fairly dry note. Quite murky across some northern and eastern areas, but
01:05the mist and low cloud will burn its way back towards the North Sea. Showers do develop
01:10come the middle of the morning across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. As we go
01:14through the course of the day, showers also develop across parts of Wales and western
01:19and northern England. Some of these showers will be heavy, potentially thundery at times.
01:24Warnings are in force across the UK as we go through the course of Sunday and into the
01:29early hours of Monday. So do stay up to date with the latest warnings on our website. But
01:34if you do have any travel plans, some of these showers will be quite torrential, so do allow
01:38some extra time for your journeys. But in the sunshine, feeling very warm once again,
01:42especially in the east, we could see highs reaching 27 degrees down towards the southeastern
01:47corner. Into Sunday evening, the showers continue to rumble on. Some of these showers
01:54once again will be quite heavy, thundery, potentially torrential downpours in places.
01:59But for many parts, we do turn a little bit drier as we go into the small hours of Monday
02:04morning. But quite cloudy, but mild once again. I think the lowest temperature is generally
02:10around 10 to 11 degrees in the north. So for most of us, I think we'll start Monday off
02:15on a rather grey but dry note. Still some heavy showers around across parts of Scotland
02:20and north-eastern England. But eyes really down towards the south-west. This next band
02:24of rain moves in. Some heavy rain at times across parts of Wales and south-west England.
02:29So a very different flavour of things here compared to recent days. And with winds also
02:34increasing at times. So feeling, yeah, very cool here. But elsewhere, again, cooler than
02:39recent days. But still I think we'll see highs reaching around 20 or 21 degrees in the sunshine.
02:45Still the risk of some showers right throughout the afternoon across parts of Scotland.
02:51Then looking ahead towards Tuesday and Wednesday, really low pressure is going to dominate across
02:55the UK, bringing further spells of rain or showers. In between, we will see some sunshine
03:02and temperatures, although they will trend a little bit closer to near normal for the
03:06time of year. I think in any sunshine, it shouldn't feel too bad out there. But you
03:09can find out more about the weather where you are over the next five days on our website
03:14or our app. And don't forget to follow us on social media. But for me, for now, take
03:18care and I'll see you again soon.
