00:00Welcome along to your latest weather update. It's not quite the calm after the
00:04storm but the weather certainly a lot less wild out there today compared to
00:08recent days. Still got the swirl from storm Ciarán out in the North Sea and it
00:13is still taking some rain into eastern Scotland. For many though it's been a
00:18much brighter start to the day. If we pull out however there is quite a lot
00:22more cloud and that means more rain to come from this weather system as we go
00:27through tonight and into Saturday. More on that in a moment. First of all as I
00:31said there is some rain still coming into the east of Scotland so we do still
00:34have a Met Office yellow warning in place here. There will be showers
00:38elsewhere too especially for North Wales, North West England. A scattering too
00:42across South West England moving towards the southeast this afternoon. But for a
00:46good part of central and eastern England much of southern Scotland and large
00:50parts of Northern Ireland it's a dry bright bright fine day out there. It's
00:55not particularly warm. A fairly cool breeze continues to blow but again those
00:59winds nothing like as powerful as they were yesterday. Through this evening and
01:04overnight we'll start to see that rain just edging across the Highlands towards
01:07the west coast of Scotland. More showers will feed into North Wales and Northern
01:11England. The showers in the southeast will clear through the evening but then
01:15we'll start to see more rain coming into South West England and South Wales by
01:19dawn and the winds will be picking up as that rain moves in. Also that's that
01:23cloud we saw earlier on the satellite image. Clear skies ahead of that though
01:27will allow temperatures to drop away so a bit of a chilly start. Maybe even it's
01:31a hint of frost there through some sheltered glens across Scotland. So a
01:35cooler start to Saturday but a bright one for Northern England, Northern
01:38Ireland and Scotland. But the rain in the south is a cause for concern just because
01:41we've seen so much rain recently. That band of rain moving through could cause
01:46some further issues. Certainly a lot of spray and surface water on the roads
01:49initially in the south but then that rain band kind of grinds to a halt over
01:54the North Midlands through Yorkshire towards Lancashire and North Wales. It's
01:58gonna be a pretty grotty afternoon here. Further south we'll see some brighter
02:02skies but also lots of showers packing in. Possibly even the odd rumble of
02:06thunder and a blustery wind once more too. We do have a Met Office yellow warning in
02:11place across the south for that wet weather coming in. A few showers in the
02:15northeast but for most of Scotland and Northern Ireland it's a dry fine day on
02:20Saturday. We'll see some sunny spells coolish here but I think the lowest
02:23temperatures is really going to be suppressed by the cloud and rain over
02:27parts of Northern England. Just seven or eight Celsius in places here. Further
02:31south we should just about get into the teens but even that it'll feel cooler
02:35because of the wind and the frequent showers which will continue well into
02:39the evening as well. So quite a blustery gusty evening across the coast of the
02:43southeast. Staying pretty damp too over Northern England and North Wales. The
02:47rain not especially heavy but just persisting well into Saturday evening. As
02:52we go through the second half of the weekend still dominated by low pressure
02:56but this one will actually head out into the North Sea. It means we'll see showers
03:00spiraling around the back of it particularly into eastern parts of
03:04England on Sunday morning. But then many places will have a fine bright Sunday
03:08morning with some sunshine before then we see a scattering of showers coming
03:13into the west later on. But for many places I think Sunday will be a dry and
03:17a bright day. Again a bit of a cool breeze and temperatures only 9 to 12
03:21maybe 13 Celsius along the south coast. So yes storm Cairn may be moving away
03:26but there's still plenty going on with the weather. Hit subscribe on YouTube and
03:31then you'll never miss an update.
