3 October - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Good morning. A wet start for some, but for many, it'll brighten up. We'll see some sunshine
00:06and a few showers during Tuesday. But as I said, quite a wet start in places, a lot of
00:10heavy rain last night, quite a bit of spray and surface water on the roads, particularly
00:15over the Midlands and East Anglia and the South East, seeing some heavy bursts of rain
00:18this morning before that all scoots away by around about lunchtime. Then we'll see a bit
00:23of sunshine, but we will also see showers packing into northwest England, western Scotland,
00:28a few for Northern Ireland and Wales too. But much of southern England, eastern England,
00:32largely dry and bright this afternoon with some sunny spells. A fairly brisk breeze,
00:36though, bringing a fresher feel. Temperatures mostly in the mid-teens, so close to average
00:41for early October. Still a few showers around for this evening's rush hour coming into parts
00:47of northwest England, western Scotland especially. Elsewhere, the winds easing down, the showers
00:52tending to fade, the cloud melting away. Decent clear spells over the Midlands, eastern parts
00:57of England, northeast Scotland through the night. But then we'll see more rain coming
01:00into the northwest and the winds picking up here once more. It will be something of a
01:04cooler night, certainly for England and Wales, in rural spots. Temperatures dipping down
01:09into single figures, most towns and cities starting at 9 to 11 Celsius. So how about
01:14tomorrow's weather? Well, generally dry and bright over the bulk of the south of the country.
01:19There'll be a few showers coming into Wales, northwest England, but hazy sunshine likely
01:23here. A wet day, though, over parts of northern and western Scotland. That rain likely to
01:28be heavy and could last for most of the day. Later in the day, starting to push down towards
01:33parts of northern Ireland, too, and it will be quite breezy here also. So feeling cooler,
01:38temperatures mostly 14, 15 degrees across the north. Further south, similar to today's
01:43values, maybe 18, 19 across the southeast. But that rain, so really building up through
01:47the day, and it could cause a few problems. So we do have a Met Office yellow warning
01:52in place as it builds up, as I say, through the course of the day, caused by this waving,
01:56wiggling weather front that doesn't finish on Wednesday. It continues to wriggle around
02:01and we see further pulses of wet weather coming in during Thursday and Friday as well. So
02:06that needs watching again, the potential for some disruption as the rain builds up through
02:11the second half of the week. Further south, however, high pressure dominating. So a lot
02:15of fine weather to be had here through the second half of the week. And if we put the
02:19temperatures on, as that high pressure starts to amble away to the east, we'll draw up some
02:25warmth from the south. So particularly for England and Wales, temperatures really jumping
02:29up through Friday and into the start of the weekend. Just how warm will it get? Well,
02:35keep up to date with the forecast. The best way to do that, of course, is to follow us
02:39across social media.
