00:00This Tuesday it's blustery and it's showery. Hello, welcome to your latest
00:04weather update brought to you by The Met Office. Starting off looking at the
00:07bigger picture and we have low pressure generally dominating the story across
00:11much of the UK at the moment. Tightly packed ice bars indicate that it is so
00:15blustery, so breezy at the moment, but as we go through the next few days high
00:20pressure across the south is going to build and that's going to quieten down
00:23our weather across the southern half of the UK. A different story further north
00:27here we'll continue to see fronts moving their way across with low pressure
00:31systems and that means we're going to see further unsettled weather with
00:34spells of wind and rain pushing their way in. It's not just the wind and rain
00:38in the north though, the high pressure in the south is also going to lead to some
00:42warm air dragging its way in as we go towards the end of the week, so by the
00:45weekend things could be turning that little bit warmer. Back to the here and
00:49now and as we go through the rest of Tuesday a rash of showers across the
00:53bulk of the UK. The showers are coming in on those brisk westerly winds so it's
00:57towards the north and west in particular where we're going to see the heaviest
01:00most frequent showers with a chance of some thunder here. Further south and east
01:05a greater chance of staying drier with some bright sunny skies, but a few
01:08showers could reach here as we go into the afternoon. Temperatures, while they're
01:12going to be down a little bit compared to recent days, near average for the time
01:15of year just about getting into the very high teens, may scrape at 20 Celsius, but
01:20with those brisk blustery winds it is going to feel a little bit fresher than
01:24that. The showers will continue across northern and western parts as we go
01:28through the end of the day, though across eastern southern areas here it is going
01:31to be that little bit dry with some clear skies through the night. A swathe
01:34of wet weather will then push across parts of Scotland and fringing into the
01:38far north of Northern Ireland through the night as well. With a lot of cloud
01:42and some wet weather towards the north and west temperatures won't drop a huge
01:45amount, but in the east where we get some clear skies some rural spots could just
01:49about dip into single figures. So a north-south split as we go through
01:54Wednesday, cloudy wet across many northern parts, particularly across
01:57Scotland, west and southwestern Scotland in particular, where we're going to see
02:00some heavy rainfall totals building up. Across the far north of Scotland it's
02:04going to be another blustery, showery day and across the bulk of England and
02:08Wales it's going to be a fairly dry picture, some bright sunny skies
02:12developing and we do need to watch out for a few showers, but I'm not expecting
02:15these to be as intense or as frequent as the showers that we saw through Tuesday.
02:20Temperatures on Wednesday, well they're going to be similar to Tuesday for many
02:23places, so again mid to high teens generally and there will still be a
02:26breeze around, but it probably won't be quite as strong as on Tuesday,
02:30so I'm expecting it will feel a little bit warmer perhaps. If we look at the
02:34rainfall then we do have a warning out at the moment across parts of western
02:38southwestern Scotland, that's because we could see totals on Wednesday building
02:41up to around 50 to 60 millimetres, some localised floodings possible as well as
02:46disruption to travel, some spray on the roads is quite likely. The heavy rain
02:50continues as we go through the end of the week, a further warning is in force
02:54for Thursday into Friday. Here particularly around the Western Isles we
02:58could see 125 possibly even 150 millimetres of rain building up, so some
03:03further wet weather to come, again likely to see some flooding in places. There's
03:07more information on the warnings across our social media channels, so worth
03:10keeping up to date with those and also you can keep up to date with our
03:13forecasts across our app and our website. Bye bye.
