00:00Hello, very good day to you. If you're hoping for something more summery, well it's not
00:04great news with the autumnal feel continuing for a few days yet. It's because we're still
00:09on the northern colder side of the jet stream and it's quite an active jet at that. As a
00:14result, the low pressure that was across the UK on Wednesday has now been pushed away towards
00:18the east. Behind it, we have a cool northerly flow across the UK and quite a few showers
00:25with limited bright or sunny spells across the UK. Taking a look at the details on Thursday,
00:30you can see a largely cloudy picture, but I am expecting some sunshine to break through
00:34the cloud at times. Plenty of showers around, particularly across northern parts of Scotland,
00:38but also for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Some of these could be hefty, perhaps the
00:43odd rumble of thunder too. Temperatures are going to be a little disappointing for the
00:47time of year. We may just about scrape to around 23 or 24 celsius in the south east,
00:52but when you factor in the blustery winds, albeit lighter than on Wednesday, it is going
00:56to feel relatively cool, particularly for August. As we go through the end of the day
01:01on Thursday, some further showers for many places, but they are gradually going to die
01:04out except across parts of Scotland and into northeast England where we're going to see
01:09some heavy downpours as we go through the early hours of Friday morning. Watch out,
01:13there could be a little bit of surface water issues as we go through the early hours. Because
01:18of the largely cloudy skies and breezy conditions, temperatures aren't going to drop much, most
01:23places staying in the mid teens celsius. So first thing on Friday, watch out for some
01:27heavy rain across parts of northeast England, and that showery rain is then going to feed
01:31its way further southwards across parts of Yorkshire and into East Anglia as we go through
01:35the day. There's the risk of some hail and some thunder here, along with some heavy downpours
01:40of rain. Elsewhere, there will be a few showers pushing in on that north northwesterly wind,
01:44so particularly around northern parts of Scotland and feeding into Irish coastal areas
01:48as well. But across more western parts of England and Wales, we should see some decent
01:52dry bright weather for many of us. Temperatures are maybe going to be down a degree compared
01:57to Thursday, but with lighter winds for most, particularly in the east, it is going to perhaps
02:02feel a little bit warmer for some, particularly if you get any sunshine away from those heavy
02:07downpours. In the southwest, though, the winds are going to stay quite strong. That's because
02:11of this weather system that's going to push its way in from the west later on. We're going
02:15to see some heavy rain arriving as we go through Friday evening and strengthening winds too,
02:20starting off across Northern Ireland and then it's going to push across the rest of the
02:24UK. As if we take a closer look at that and you can see this deep low, unseasonably deep
02:28for the time of year, pushing its way eastwards across the country. A bit of uncertainty as
02:33to the exact track this low is going to take, but it does look like Saturday for many, particularly
02:38across England and Wales is going to be a wet and windy day. We do have some warnings
02:42in force that will clear away as we go into Sunday. So Sunday does look a little bit drier,
02:47but still relatively unsettled with some brisk winds and showers to watch out for. There's
02:51more information on the forecast for the weekend on the 10 day trend that's on YouTube and
02:55was issued yesterday. So catch Alex with that. And for more information, you can always check
03:00out our social media channels. I'll see you later.
