00:00A bit drab and drizzly across parts of the south today, something a bit brighter further
00:04north. Signs of things warming up in places later this week. More on that in a moment.
00:10First of all, here's the bigger picture. First thing on Monday morning, a lot of cloud across
00:14the UK streaming up from the south. That cloud is quite thick across Wales and southwest
00:20England, thick enough for some rain and drizzle. Brighter skies across parts of Scotland and
00:24Northern Ireland. But even here, there are some showers coming in, particularly over
00:28the Highlands and the Western Isles, where it's fairly blustery. Rain and drizzle then
00:31on and off for England and Wales. Some brighter spells, maybe for a time, across the southeast.
00:36But the sunniest skies today for Northern Ireland and southern Scotland, where there
00:40may in Egypt be one or two showers. Many places will stay dry. A fresher feel, though, across
00:45the far northwest with that brisk wind. Temperatures in the mid-teens at best. But further south,
00:51it's quite warm air. So temperatures easily getting up to 20 degrees, with some brightness
00:55across the southeast, maybe 22 or 23. It feels cooler with the cloud and the drizzly
01:00rain. And that rain is likely to pep up as we go through the afternoon, initially over
01:04parts of the Midlands and northern England, but especially during the evening as it drifts
01:09further east. So the East Midlands up through Lincolnshire and East Anglia could see some
01:13heavy downpours, even the odd rumble of thunder, particularly North Norfolk through the night
01:18could see some very heavy rain before it all scoots out into the North Sea. It then generally
01:23turns a little drier, with clearer spells for Scotland and Northern Ireland will dip
01:27down into single figures in the countryside. Further south, temperatures mostly holding
01:31up. So quite a quite a warm night here with more cloud, making for a grey start to Tuesday
01:36over East Anglia and the southeast. Still a little bit of rain here, but that should
01:41then clear away. And then we'll see a mixture of sunshine and showers, with plenty of showers
01:45packing into western Scotland and by the afternoon over northwest England, scattered further
01:51south through Wales and the Midlands and parts of the south may well have a dry, fine
01:55afternoon and a mixture of sunshine and showers for Northern Ireland. A fairly brisk breeze
02:00picking up, always windiest across the far northwest. And again, that'll bring a fresher
02:04feel with temperatures mostly in the teens. But in the south, we could get into the high
02:09teens, but won't be as humid, I suspect. Again, a fresher feel, despite a bit more in the
02:14way of sunshine. As we go through Tuesday evening, still some showers drifting in over
02:18northern England, western parts of Scotland. Just know behind me there's an area of rain
02:24gathering that could be quite heavy and signs of things to come here through the rest of
02:28the week. That is a weather front. And if we run through the sequence through the rest
02:32of the week, notice how these weather fronts just kind of drape themselves across parts
02:36of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. So bringing quite a wet second half
02:41of the week in this zone. So that's something we need to keep an eye on. That rain could
02:45be heavy and persistent. Meanwhile, further south, look at this. High pressure is dominating.
02:50If we rewind the clock and run through the week, put the temperature profile on, we see
02:55we have a fresher feel on Tuesday. But as we go through the week, actually, as the high
02:59pressure tends to drift further eastwards, we could waft up some warmer air, some significantly
03:05warm air by the time we get to Friday and into Saturday. So quite a bit going on through
03:10this week. Catch our full week ahead forecast by subscribing to our YouTube channel. And
