00:00Hello, the rain is returning to eastern Scotland where it will last for most of Saturday. We
00:05have another Met Office red weather warning in place across parts of Aberdeenshire and
00:11Angus. Let's zoom in on the worst affected areas through Saturday. The warnings, the
00:16amber and the red warnings valid throughout the entire day. There's broader amber warning
00:21area from northern Aberdeen down to Dundee and also covering parts of the Northern Highlands.
00:26And then this red zone covering parts of Aberdeenshire and Angus. In these areas, the
00:32amber and red areas, a further 70 to maybe 100 millimetres of rain is likely to cause
00:37further significant flooding after what has been an exceptionally wet spell of weather.
00:43Please listen to the advice from the emergency services. Keep up to date with the very latest
00:49from the local authorities, from SEPA and of course with the weather forecast. It's
00:53not just eastern Scotland though. Bearing the brunt of the wet weather, it continues
00:57to fall through Friday evening over northeastern parts of England and parts of Wales. There
01:01are other amber and yellow warnings in place through the night. Parts of the south becoming
01:05at least a little bit drier. Still a brisk wind blowing on some of these North Sea coasts
01:10that's exacerbating the rain and also bringing a colder feel. Temperatures in the south dropping
01:16no lower than 10 to 13 degrees but down to single figures further north. On to Saturday
01:22and as discussed it is going to be a very wet day in eastern Scotland. This brisk wind
01:26continuing to feed the rain in here. Should be a drier day though for parts of north-east
01:32England. Even a bit of sunshine through parts of east Anglia. Generally just a few showers
01:37for northern Ireland. Some showers for Wales but again here overall a drier day on Saturday
01:42compared to Friday. We'll see some heavy showers developing across the south. Even a few thunderstorms
01:48possible here blown along by a stiff and gusty wind. But certainly the heaviest most
01:53persistent rain will be in that worst affected part of eastern and northern Scotland where
01:58the rain just keeps on falling. Temperature wise we'll hear single figures and feeling
02:03colder for the south. We should just about stumble into the teens but generally on the
02:07cool side with a lot of cloud and particularly the gusty winds across the south east. Still
02:12a few heavy showers then for parts of England and Wales on Saturday evening. The rain should
02:17start to ease at this stage but of course there's always a lag between the rain falling
02:21and the worst of the flooding as the rain comes down the mountains. But signs of the
02:26rain easing a little on Saturday night across the north-east and elsewhere. Generally clear
02:31spells developing and that will lead into a pretty good looking day for many on Sunday.
02:35Dry, bright, good spells of sunshine. A few showers coming in to north-west England and
02:40south Wales, south-west England too. Won't be completely dry in the north-east of Scotland.
02:45There will be a few showers coming in here but not the heavy persistent rain that we
02:50are seeing through Saturday. Overall many places lighter winds, bit more sunshine, feeling
02:55quite a bit warmer on Sunday compared to Saturday. Please do stay up to date with the latest
03:01Met Office weather warnings. Keep up to date with the progress of all the heavy rain throughout
03:06this weekend by following us on social media.
