Transcript
00:00Welcome to your national weather updates.
00:02Lots of showers across the country today.
00:05Should be a little drier for most of us on Saturday.
00:08But certainly for the time being,
00:09here's the satellite and radar image.
00:11Two zones, really.
00:12It's been a pretty wet start across parts
00:14of southeast England.
00:16All this rain is steadily moving away to the east,
00:19so drying up over the Midlands for a time
00:21before the showers get going.
00:23Further outbreaks of rain for Northern Ireland and Western
00:25Scotland, even some heavy, even thundery showers possible.
00:29Turning a little drier by the end of the day for East
00:31Anglia and the southeast.
00:32Some brightness, some holes in the cloud,
00:34a little bit of sunshine here and there.
00:36But even with a bit of sunshine, it
00:38ain't warm temperatures, really struggling.
00:40A cooler feel, certainly compared to yesterday.
00:42We might squeak up to 18 Celsius.
00:44But for most, we're in the mid-teens at best.
00:46And feeling cooler when the showers come along.
00:48Still plenty of those showers across the northern half
00:50of the country during the early part of the evening.
00:53But they are clearing away.
00:55So for most places, through the evening when it comes dry,
00:58we'll keep some showers going overnight in the far northwest.
01:01But otherwise, dry, clear spells,
01:03breeze keeping the temperatures up at 10 or 11 Celsius
01:07in most towns and cities.
01:09A few places dropping down to single digits.
01:11On to Saturday then.
01:13And a few showers, yes, certainly
01:14initially across parts of the Highlands, the Western Isles.
01:17And in Western Scotland, that will
01:18be where we see most of the showers during the day.
01:21One or two for Northern Ireland developing.
01:23Quite a lot of cloud here.
01:25Generally clouding over in many areas
01:27with maybe the odd shower for Wales, the Midlands,
01:30southwest England too.
01:31But for a good part of England and Wales,
01:33I think it will be a dry day on Saturday.
01:35We will see some bright or sunny spells coming through.
01:38And as a result, it'll feel a little warmer than today.
01:41We might squeak up to 20 Celsius across the southeast.
01:44But again, we're only looking at 14 or 15
01:46there in western parts of Scotland.
01:48So still pretty cool.
01:49And notice there is more rain gathering in the northwest.
01:52That's going to work its way widely across Scotland
01:56and into parts of Northern Ireland
01:57during Saturday evening.
01:59For most across England and Wales,
02:01Saturday evening will stay dry.
02:03But this is all part of an area of low pressure.
02:06High pressure is trying to establish itself
02:08across the south.
02:09But the low is generally winning out.
02:11And that's going to bring a lot more cloud
02:13across the country on Sunday.
02:14Again, with further showers, particularly
02:17in the north and the west, with largely dry conditions
02:20across the east.
02:21So staying pretty mixed as we go through the weekend.
02:24It will be warmer.
02:25We see some sunshine on Sunday.
02:27But generally, a fairly cool feel persisting.
