00:00Hello. Welcome along to your national weather update this Monday.
00:04Quite mild out there at the moment.
00:06We will see temperatures dropping off a little bit
00:08as we go through the rest of this week.
00:10Here's the bigger picture.
00:11Got low pressure to the north, high pressure to the south.
00:14The isobar is pretty closely packed.
00:16Quite windy conditions on Monday morning across northern Britain.
00:19Those winds only slowly easing through the afternoon.
00:22And we do have this weather front that is bringing some cloud
00:25and outbreaks of rain across parts of central Scotland.
00:28So fairly dull and damp here.
00:30And that rain will just trickle a little further north.
00:32Some patchy rain too for parts of north-west England,
00:35mostly over the Cumbrian Fells.
00:37And it may be a bit drizzly across Snowdonia.
00:39But generally dry.
00:41And the Welsh mountains actually helping to break the cloud up.
00:43So some good spells of sunshine for east Wales,
00:45parts of the Midlands, east Anglia, and parts of the south-east too.
00:50And where we've got a bit of sunshine, well,
00:52getting stronger and stronger at the moment.
00:54So temperatures rising 13, 14, 15 degrees.
00:57Further north it is colder.
00:59It certainly feels cold with the blustery conditions over the northern isles.
01:02But even here temperatures of 9, 10 degrees are above average for the time of year.
01:07Now this zone of rain, this weather front,
01:09will continue to track back further north through the night.
01:12So staying fairly damp across the highlands of Scotland and the western isles.
01:16But generally further south it will stay dry.
01:19If we keep some breaks in the cloud,
01:21it may just turn a little misty, one or two fog patches.
01:24And it will certainly stay mild.
01:26But the winds will be easing over north-east England and north-eastern parts of Scotland.
01:30Temperatures, as I said, are on the high side.
01:338, 9, 10 degrees as a low in some spots.
01:36So we start Tuesday pretty mild.
01:39It is going to be a fairly cloudy day.
01:41But most places will be dry.
01:43Some drizzly and damp conditions over the highlands and over the northern isles for a time.
01:48And then later in the day the winds will strengthen in the western isles.
01:51And we'll see some rain just spreading back in here.
01:54But again, apart from a bit of drizzle over the hills and the mountains in the west,
01:58most places dry.
01:59Probably a cloudier day for east Wales, the Midlands and east Anglia compared to today.
02:04And certainly lighter winds compared to today across north-east England and eastern Scotland.
02:09It will be another pretty mild one for the time of year.
02:12Not quite as mild because we won't be as bright or as sunny.
02:15But generally still temperatures a few degrees above average at 10 to 12.
02:19A bit of sunshine across north-east Scotland.
02:21We could again get up to 14 Celsius.
02:24Further west though we are seeing signs of a change.
02:27I said at the start it will get a little colder through this week.
02:30And this is one of the reasons why.
02:31We're going to see rain coming into northern Ireland and western Scotland on Tuesday evening.
02:36But that is a cold front.
02:38And as that pushes across the country it will bring some patchy rain to the south.
02:43Then we have another weather system toppling in over this area of high pressure,
02:47which is another cold front which dives south on Friday.
02:50So if we rewind and take a look at what that means for the temperatures,
02:54you can see at the moment we're tucked in here between these weather systems.
02:57Some mild air sitting across the country.
03:00Those pretty dark orange colours.
03:02This first weather front introduces cooler conditions for Wednesday and into Thursday.
03:07Then temperatures rise a little before that next cold front brings colder air back further south again.
03:12So nothing exceptional but signs of things turning colder as we go through this week.
03:17A full week ahead forecast will be available on our YouTube channels by Monday afternoon.
