00:00Hello. It will get a little colder later this week.
00:03But for the time being, it is still very mild out there.
00:07And that's because we're in a warm sector between these two
00:10weather fronts.
00:11Pretty mild air that will stick around through Tuesday
00:14as well.
00:14Eventually, this cold front will push across the country,
00:17but not really until Wednesday.
00:19So for the time being, as I said, it's pretty mild.
00:22This weather front is bringing some outbreaks of rain
00:24across northern Scotland.
00:25Continue to track north through the evening.
00:28At the same time, the winds will continue
00:29to ease a very windy Monday across the far northeast.
00:33Those winds, as I say, steadily easing overnight.
00:36Outbreaks of rain continuing over the Highlands
00:38and the Western Isles, but a drizzle
00:39maybe through the Central Belts.
00:40But most places staying dry.
00:42Certainly in the south, it's dry, largely cloudy.
00:46If we see some breaks in the cloud,
00:47it might just turn a little misty, one or two fog patches.
00:50But that's not going to be a major problem.
00:52Temperatures are certainly going to keep well away
00:55from freezing.
00:56We start Tuesday at 8, 9, even 10 Celsius
01:00in some towns and cities.
01:01So it's not a cold start, and it will be a very mild day
01:04on Tuesday again.
01:06Not completely dry.
01:06We start with damp conditions over the Highlands.
01:09A little bit of rain will track across the northern isles.
01:11It won't be as windy here, though,
01:13remember, compared to Monday.
01:14And late in the day, we'll start to see that cold front
01:17coming into the northwest, bringing some rain, perhaps
01:20once more, to the Outer Hebrides.
01:21Bar a bit of drizzle around coast and hills further west,
01:24most places will be dry.
01:26Won't be as bright as Monday over the Midlands and East
01:30Anglia, but we should see some breaks in the cloud,
01:32northeast England, northeast Scotland.
01:34Bit of sunshine poking through if we get some blue skies here.
01:37Temperatures, again, likely to get into the teens, 13,
01:40maybe 14 Celsius, even where it's cloudy.
01:4310, 11, 12 Celsius is above average for the time of year.
01:47Again, the winds, for most, will be lighter.
01:49But the winds will strengthen in the northwest
01:51as this band of rain starts to move in.
01:53That's that cold front we saw earlier.
01:55So this will bring more of a change,
01:57turning wet across northern Ireland, western Scotland,
02:00before midnight on Wednesday.
02:02And then overnight, we'll see rain
02:03creeping into western parts of England and Wales also.
02:07It won't stop there.
02:08It will continue to track its way
02:09across central and eastern England during Wednesday.
02:12So a very different day with cloud and rain and drizzle
02:15on and off for east Anglia and the southeast.
02:18It will turn drier over northern England and Wales.
02:21Just a few showers here.
02:22Showers, certainly, for northern Ireland and northern
02:25Scotland, where they'll start to turn a bit wintry.
02:28Some snow, likely, over the higher routes here.
02:31But also some sunny spells with the central belt brightening up
02:34over much of northern England.
02:35Look at where the winds are coming from now,
02:37coming down from the north.
02:38So it will be a colder day.
02:40That is a cold front.
02:42But actually, still, these temperatures
02:44are about average for the time of year,
02:467 Celsius across the north, 9 or 10 further south.
02:49But certainly, it'll start to feel a bit fresher,
02:51but only because it has been so very mild.
02:54Now, that line of cloud and rain, that cold front,
02:57will continue to pull away as we go through Wednesday night.
03:01And that is introducing the colder air.
03:03But as I said, it's not especially cold.
03:06And the reason for that is because high pressure
03:08is toppling in.
03:09There's another warm sector just here.
03:11The air isn't coming from anywhere particularly cold.
03:14Actually, just coming in from the northwest
03:16around this high pressure.
03:18So as I say, it's not especially cold air.
03:20What we'll see later in the week is another cold front
03:23then pushes south across the country,
03:26turns a bit milder on Thursday before this next cold front
03:29reintroduces the cold air for Friday.
03:31And if this low turns pretty vicious,
03:34the isobar squeezing together, that
03:35will generate some pretty strong and cold winds
03:39along the east coast.
03:40So quite a significant wind chill
03:41in eastern areas on Friday.
03:44And certainly, as things turn a bit colder
03:45where skies are clear, we will see
03:47a return of nighttime frost.
