00:00Welcome along to your national weather update.
00:02Mild and cloudy sums up the weather for most of us
00:05for the next few days.
00:07We do have some heavy rain around on Thursday night.
00:09Of course, northwest Scotland and some gusty winds
00:12too for eastern parts of Scotland and northeast England.
00:15They will ease through the early hours.
00:17And at the same time, the rain edges south
00:19and also fizzles out.
00:20But a few spots of rain likely to arrive.
00:23Of course, southern Scotland, Northern Ireland sinking
00:25into northwest England by dawn.
00:27Further south, it just stays dry, predominantly cloudy,
00:30a bit of a breeze, and very mild.
00:33Temperatures here likely to stay up
00:34at 7, 8, 9 degrees Celsius.
00:36As the wet weather clears from northern Scotland,
00:38we might dip a little lower into single figures,
00:41but certainly frost free for the vast majority.
00:44Friday then starts mild and cloudy
00:46with some drizzly conditions over northwest England,
00:48southwest Scotland, and initially the north coast
00:50of Northern Ireland.
00:51But it should dry up here.
00:53The rain edges back further northwards.
00:55It won't be as heavy as it was through Thursday.
00:58And it will tend to dry up on the west coast of Scotland
01:01and northwest England by the early part of the afternoon.
01:05Further south, again, most places dry.
01:07Yes, a lot of cloud, but we should
01:08see some holes in the cloud.
01:09So a bit of brightness poking through, a bit of sunshine
01:12is possible.
01:13And even where it's cloudy, it's going to be mild.
01:15Double figures pretty much across the board.
01:17The main exception may be Orkney and Shetland, 7 or 8 here,
01:20but elsewhere 10.
01:21And in the south, some brightness
01:23could see highs of 13, perhaps even 14 Celsius.
01:26It stays mild through Friday evening.
01:28It stays predominantly dry.
01:30There will be some drizzle here and there
01:32over western coasts and hills.
01:33But as I say, most places will stay dry and cloudy
01:37as we head into the weekend.
01:38The winds will start to pick up in the northwest.
01:41And we'd have a line of rain.
01:42That's a weather front which will
01:43push across Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:46during Saturday.
01:47So turning wet on the west coast of Scotland by lunchtime
01:50and then by the afternoon, spreading
01:52through Northern Ireland and into central and southern
01:54Scotland.
01:55It will be moving through, so western parts
01:57of Northern Ireland, northwest Scotland,
01:59probably actually turning a little brighter
02:00by the end of the day.
02:02Eventually, some of that rain will crop up in northwest
02:04England and north Wales.
02:06But most of England and Wales for most of the day
02:09will again be dry, cloudy, and mild, 10, 11, 12 degrees
02:13Celsius, 9 or 10 further north.
02:15But it will turn colder as that rain starts to pull away.
02:18And the winds will be picking up too.
02:21That spell of rain will continue to edge southwards
02:23during Saturday night.
02:24It's a cold front.
02:25And it will introduce colder conditions
02:28for all areas on Sunday.
02:29But it will also introduce clearer skies.
02:31And for most places, Sunday is going
02:33to be dry and bright with lengthy spells of sunshine.
02:36A touch of frost in places first thing
02:38by the afternoon highs of 7 or 8 Celsius.
02:40So not as mild as it has been, although those numbers
02:44are kind of about average for the time of year.
02:46But that is a sign of things getting a little colder
02:49as we go into next week.
