00:00Hello again, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. A bit of a
00:03change on Tuesday, certainly for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Much more cloud
00:07around and some outbreaks of rain and drizzle as well. However, for England and
00:11Wales it's another fine day, dry and bright with sunny spells after another
00:16fairly chilly start to the day. High pressure is nearby and still by and large
00:21controlling our weather, but this weather front is bringing that change. It's been
00:25making for cloud and rain across the north-west of Scotland for much of
00:29Monday and the west of Northern Ireland and it will continue to slip its way to
00:33the east of Northern Ireland and bring some rain across the Highlands, Argyll
00:37and Bute overnight. Elsewhere it's a generally dry night again with clear
00:41skies, but it will turn quite misty and murky once more across parts of eastern
00:45England. It will be another pretty chilly night for England and Wales where we've got
00:49the clear skies, a frost likely in rural areas, but a milder night with more cloud
00:53and that rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland. But a different day
00:57here, a dull and damp day for most anyway, but for actually the Western Isles of
01:01Scotland it'll brighten up quite quickly and then parts of the mainland will also
01:05cheer up through the day, but through the central belt and for much of the east of
01:09Northern Ireland it'll stay pretty drab throughout. Brighter skies in the far
01:13north will be accompanied by a few showers, one or two showers possible
01:17across England and Wales, but for the vast majority here dry and fine with
01:21sunny spells, but it could be quite misty across eastern areas at first and some
01:25of these North Sea coasts may just stay quite misty throughout the day. That will
01:30have an impact on the temperatures as well, as will the increased cloud across
01:33Scotland and Northern Ireland. So a different feel here, notice the green
01:37tinges around the coast of England and Wales whilst inland the yellow and
01:41oranges suggesting temperatures could get close to 20 degrees in a few places,
01:44but it will be cooler on the coast and obviously a cooler day for Scotland and
01:48Northern Ireland with more cloud around. That cloud and patchy rain continues to
01:52trickle southwards during Tuesday evening, could be some wintriness in the
01:57showers over Shetland for a time, quite windy here as well and increasing
02:01amounts of cloud across the Midlands, eastern parts of England means it won't
02:05be as cold here to start Wednesday, but it will be quite a drab start. That cloud
02:10will tend to melt away from Northern England, so much of Northern Britain
02:13looking sunny for most of Wednesday. Just the chance of one or two showers across
02:18the southwest, that's where we'll probably hang on to the temperatures in
02:21the mid or even high teens, 15, 16, maybe 17 degrees, but elsewhere it is turning
02:26cooler, especially on those North Sea coasts. Brighter yes, but a fresh wind
02:31from the North Sea coming around this area of high pressure which continues to
02:35dominate through Thursday, Friday and even into the weekend. Notice the
02:40isobars just squeezing together however, so it could get quite windy across the
02:44south coast, particularly so in the southwest of England during Thursday,
02:49Friday and probably the start of the weekend also. But by and large that high
02:52pressure will keep things dry, sunny spells by day with temperatures around
02:57average, but at night it stays cold with a continued risk of nighttime frosts.
