00:00Hello. Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. Yes, more sunshine and offer
00:04for most of us over the next few days, actually. Just a cautionary note, though, UV levels
00:09will be moderate or high across the UK over the next few days. So don't forget the sunscreen
00:14if you are out in the sunshine. And many places will keep the blue skies through the rest
00:19of today. But not everywhere is gloriously sunny, as the satellite picture reveals. Quite
00:23a lot of cloud across Northern Ireland, the west of Northern Ireland, the far northwest
00:27of Scotland, where there's some rain and patchy cloud mist has been affecting parts
00:31of eastern England as well. That's melting away, but some parts of eastern England will
00:37keep quite a lot of cloud through the rest of today. There's even the small chance of
00:40seeing a light shower or two here. Certainly, we'll see patchy rain across the west of Northern
00:44Ireland and the western isles of Scotland, even parts of the mainland, a bit dull and
00:49damp here. But for the vast majority, it's dry and it's bright with sunshine. As I said,
00:55that sun, though, is pretty strong and it is lifting the temperatures up as well. Notice,
00:59however, that around the coasts, the green tinges to the map. The seaside will still
01:04be a little bit fresh and obviously cooler where we've got that thicker cloud across
01:07the far northwest with patchy rain here. But in the sunshine elsewhere, temperatures getting
01:12above average for the time of year 16, 17, 18, possibly 19 in one or two locations. Quite
01:18quickly, though, temperatures will fall this evening. We'll keep that rain across the northwest
01:23of Scotland. It's likely to pep up a little bit across Northern Ireland, turning a bit
01:26damp as well across more central parts of Scotland by the end of the night. England
01:31and Wales staying dry, but again, turning quite misty with some low cloud just clinging
01:37to parts of eastern England, especially along the east coast, where it could be quite stubborn
01:41through much of Tuesday. Temperature wise, well, it will be another pretty chilly one,
01:46especially with clear skies across central areas. A touch of frost is possible even in
01:50urban areas, certainly in rural spots will be dropping down below. Not as cold, though,
01:54across Scotland and Northern Ireland because there's more cloud here and a very different
01:58day actually through the central belt of Scotland and for the east of Northern Ireland. Cloudy
02:02here on Tuesday with some outbreaks of light rain and drizzle. Brighter skies, though,
02:07in the far northwest with some sunny spells. For England and Wales, again, most places
02:11dry. Just the chance of one or two showers over Northern England. And as I mentioned,
02:16some of that mist and low cloud could just cling to those North Sea coasts at times.
02:21Elsewhere, though, we should see sunny spells coming through and temperatures again responding
02:25to that sunshine. Temperatures touch higher across the south on Tuesday, 19 degrees more
02:31likely and cooler further north because we've got more cloud for central parts of Scotland
02:36and Northern Ireland. And that band of cloud is a cold front, so colder air following on
02:40behind. So although it's brighter across northern Scotland, it will be colder with even some
02:43showers likely across Shetland on Tuesday night, turning a little wintry. That's a band
02:49of thick cloud with a bit of drizzle might just trickle its way to the far north of England
02:54during Tuesday night. It's this weather front which continues to sink southwards, introducing
02:58cooler air, but really fizzling out other than just a band of cloud in the odd shower.
03:03High pressure remains dominant through midweek and beyond, even up towards the weekend. That
03:07high pressure is keeping things dry. Notice the isobar squeezing together so it could
03:12get a bit windy at times across the south, particularly the southwest. But otherwise,
03:16the outlook for this week is largely dry with sunny spells with a continued risk of nighttime
03:21frosts. That's all for now, but there's always plenty more if you follow us on social media.
