27 April - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Welcome to your national weather update.
00:02This dry April continues.
00:04Many of us won't see another drop of rain
00:06for the rest of the month, thanks to high pressure.
00:09But of course, that doesn't necessarily
00:10mean it's sunny everywhere.
00:12Satellite image this morning showing a lot of cloud
00:14across eastern parts, all feeding in from the North Sea
00:18as the breeze continues to bring down cool air.
00:20And certainly across many eastern parts of England,
00:22the Midlands, a lot of cloudy conditions.
00:24Now, the cloud will break up a little bit
00:26through this afternoon, so some spots seeing some sunny spells.
00:29And certainly further west and across Scotland,
00:31Northern Ireland, some good spells of sunshine are likely.
00:34And that makes such a difference to the temperatures.
00:36Feeling quite pleasant in the sunshine,
00:38certainly across the southwest.
00:39Sunshine in the far southwest a little hazier than yesterday,
00:42and so not quite as warm, but still 15, 16, maybe 17.
00:46Whereas parts of the East Coast, particularly
00:49with that breeze coming in from the sea,
00:50struggling to get much above 9 or 10 Celsius.
00:54As we go through the evening, that cloud
00:56will break up further over eastern England for a time.
00:58But then thicken up later in the night
01:01as the cloud starts to spill back in from the North Sea.
01:04Where we keep the clearest skies,
01:05through southern Scotland, northern England,
01:07down into north Wales, hint of blue on the chart,
01:10there will again be a frost in rural areas,
01:13as low as maybe minus 3 or minus 4
01:15over parts of northern England.
01:17Towns and cities generally holding up a little bit
01:19above freezing, but certainly a cool start once more
01:23to Thursday.
01:24But again, for many, it'll be a sunny start,
01:27certainly for many western areas, another fine day,
01:30some cloud bubbling up here and there.
01:31But again, eastern parts of England,
01:33in particular Yorkshire down to the Midlands
01:35across to East Anglia, thicker cloud likely here.
01:39Even the possibility, certainly in the morning,
01:41of one or two very light showers.
01:44But generally just staying fairly cloudy,
01:46and also staying fairly chilly in these areas.
01:49Further south and west with some sunny spells,
01:51a touch warmer tomorrow, more likely to get 16, 17, possibly
01:5418 Celsius across the south coast.
01:58During Thursday evening, again, that cloud
01:59will break up for a time before perhaps starting
02:01to thicken up once more from the North Sea.
02:03But where we've got the clear skies and light winds,
02:06again, temperatures will drop fairly sharply
02:09during Thursday evening.
02:10So again, something for gardeners
02:12to take note of, a frost is possible on Friday morning
02:15as the high pressure sticks around.
02:17That high will again bring most places a fine bright day
02:20on Friday with good spells of sunshine,
02:23certainly in the west.
02:24Will it last into the weekend, a bank holiday weekend,
02:26of course?
02:27Well, things are going to change.
02:29But only subtly, these weather fronts
02:31will topple in, it looks like, from the northwest,
02:33certainly bringing more cloud and some showers
02:35for Scotland and Northern Ireland on Saturday.
02:37For more details about the bank holiday weekend,
02:40catch our 10-day trend video, which
02:42will be available on YouTube by Wednesday afternoon.
02:45Bye for now.
