00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather update. It is going to turn warmer as we head towards
00:04the weekends but today it's certainly turning wetter. The big picture from space shows clouds
00:11spilling in across the UK and it's all part of this circulation, this big area of low
00:16pressure sitting way out in the Atlantic that is throwing weather fronts our way and this
00:20set of weather fronts actually developing into a little area of low pressure of its
00:24own. As I said, that is bringing the wet weather already into southwestern parts of
00:29England and Wales, another weather front bringing rain and hill snow across parts of Scotland.
00:34It's all chugging eastwards but eastern most parts of England may well stay dry until dusk.
00:41We'll see some dry conditions across Northern Ireland as well but elsewhere it's gloomy
00:46and it's turning increasingly wet and windy. It is also slowly turning a bit milder but
00:51you probably won't notice that today with the wind and the rain moving in, feeling all that
00:56pleasant temperatures below average generally for this time of year. But it is going to turn
01:00milder through the night and over the next few days as we shall see. The rain will become more
01:05extensive though through this evening. We'll see some heavier bursts, notice the brighter
01:08colours there working into eastern parts of England. Scotland should turn a little drier,
01:13certainly central areas and in the south it will turn a bit drier as we go through the night as
01:17well. But it is going to be a cloudy night, fairly breezy at times and as I said that milder air is
01:24moving in so it'll be a warmer night than we've seen over much of this past week. Temperatures
01:29in the south may stay in double figures. Further north will still dip down into single digits but
01:33as I say overall quite a bit milder to start Friday compared to recent mornings. We are going
01:38to start pretty glum however, lots of clouds smothered across the country and further outbreaks
01:44of rain particularly over north-east England and south-east Scotland. That should be heading out
01:48into the North Sea and certainly further west and then in the south we should see some brighter
01:54skies developing, some sunny spells possible for north-west England, Wales and southern England
01:59in the afternoon. These eastern areas may well stay pretty gloomy but even here it'll turn a
02:04bit brighter. The northerly winds will return across northern Scotland. Elsewhere we'll see
02:10the winds easing off and we'll see quite a temperature contrast actually with a bit of
02:15brightness in the south. We'll see highs getting into the teens easily, maybe the high teens, perhaps
02:19even the low 20s whereas with that northerly wind we could see temperatures again back just at seven
02:24or eight Celsius. For Northern Ireland we should see some brighter skies lifting the temperatures
02:29to 13 or 14. It's the possibility of one or two heavy showers here through the afternoon and into
02:34the evening. They could continue as well but elsewhere the rain will continue to pull away
02:39and most places becoming dry as we head through Friday night and into the weekend. The weekend is
02:44a bank holiday of course and it's going to be a little bit messy but we can be reasonably confident
02:50it will be milder than much of this week. High pressure is trying to move in and calm things
02:56down and bring some dry weather but it's a fairly weak affair and weather fronts are always pushing
03:01up against it. So there will be some places seeing some heavy showers on Saturday and particularly
03:05in the west as this weather front moves in on Sunday. But as I said milder air is wafting northward
03:12so it will be a warmer weekend and there will be some lengthy dry and bright spells. So there will
03:18be some fine weather to be had but you will also need to watch out and keep an eye on the showers
03:23which develop because they could be pretty heavy where we do see them. If you want more details on
03:27the bank holiday forecast I'll have a full weekend forecast including Monday on YouTube that'll be
03:34available come Thursday afternoon. So make sure you subscribe and then you won't miss a thing.
