00:00Hello, what a contrast with the weather up and down the lands today in the south in the sunshine 1617 is possible further north.
00:08We do have snow falling. Here's the bigger picture. Weather front's moving in in here.
00:12A lot of mild air sitting across most of the country. But notice just that far northeastern corner poking out.
00:18Here's where we do have some snow parts the highlands into Aberdeenshire, Caithness, Sutherland.
00:24That snow likely to pep up again through the afternoon into the evening.
00:28Met Office yellow warning in place and travel disruption is likely as we could see several centimetres building up on some of the higher routes.
00:34But you don't have to head too far south. Much of central and southern Scotland just seeing rain a pretty wet afternoon and rain returning to Northern Ireland.
00:43Some patchy rain over northwest England but the bulk of England and Wales dry and where we've got some breaks in the clouds and sunshine in the south.
00:50As I said, temperatures 15, 16, possibly 17 or even 18 Celsius, whereas it is much colder across northern Scotland.
00:59Now, the mild air is pushing slowly northward. So still some heavy snow this evening across the far north of the mainland.
01:05But it should steadily start to turn back to rain. It'll be rain showers.
01:09We see elsewhere a band of wetter weather sinking across England and Wales, a fairly brisk breeze continuing to blow through the day and overnight.
01:17And the mild air still in place for most overnight. So temperatures not falling too far.
01:22Eight or nine across the south, but colder. Well, we've still got that cold air lingering across Shetland.
01:28Still some wet weather across the far north of Scotland there on Wednesday and elsewhere.
01:32A different day, certainly for England, Wales, a whole raft of showers rattling through on a fairly stiff and gusty wind that will strengthen as the day goes on.
01:41Some sunny spells between the showers because they will zip through.
01:44Rain showers for the vast majority, but turning perhaps back to snow over the highlands of Scotland as we go through the day.
01:51Temperatures again, actually doubled figures, maybe up into the low teens across the south and east.
01:56But it'll feel different tomorrow, feeling colder, especially as the winds start to pick up.
02:02And that's going to be really noticeable by the time we get to Thursday as the colder air starts to return to the northwest.
02:08We'll see the showers perhaps turning more wintry over the hills of Northern Ireland, but also western parts of Scotland.
02:15Still plenty of rain showers across England and Wales during Wednesday evening.
02:19But the cold air is going to return low pressure moving in the cold air to the far north initially.
02:25But as we go through Wednesday night and Thursday, these northerly winds drawing down the cold air.
02:30So the mild air getting pushed away and that colder weather spreading its way steadily southwards to all areas.
02:36By the time we get to Thursday, this little weather front in the south needs watching could bring a bit of wet weather to the south coast.
02:43But generally turning a bit brighter. But the ice bars close together.
02:45So those winds, as well as bringing colder air, will just be strong enough to bring a significant chill during Thursday and for some on Friday as well.
02:54Plenty going on. Stay up to date with the very latest.
