00:00Hello again. The weekend offers some spring sunshine for most of us, but also still a
00:06hint of a winter chill. High pressure is trying to build in, but we've had this weather front
00:11sticking across eastern parts and that is sticking around into the weekend. Here's a
00:16little ridge of high pressure. It looks like it's going to be swamped by this rather fierce
00:20looking area of low pressure, but actually that's going to scoot away to the south. The
00:25high will topple in, bringing most of us a dry weekend. But look at this weather front
00:30just sticking in there across parts of eastern England, still bringing rain and drizzle across
00:35this area as we head through Saturday. It's not really until Saturday night and Sunday
00:40that the high finally kind of squeezes away that weather front and brings most of us a
00:45dry day on Sunday. But at the same time as it moves in, the winds coming in from the
00:50east will bring a pretty cold feel certainly across the south. So that's the broad picture
00:56through the weekend. Let's rewind and take you through the details. This weather front
01:01sticking around, as I said, bringing rain and drizzle across eastern England overnight.
01:06We will see maybe one or two showers further west and a bit more cloud maybe over the Midlands.
01:11But for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, it's dry and clear and it will turn frosty.
01:16Patchy frost for northwest England, Wales and maybe even southwest England as well.
01:21Under the cloud and rain with that weather front, temperatures will hold up a few degrees
01:25above freezing. But elsewhere, certainly getting close to freezing even in towns and cities
01:29and in rural spots, we will be well below maybe minus five and one or two locations
01:34across Scotland and Northern Ireland. So a cold start here to the weekend, a frosty old
01:39start, but we should see plenty of sunshine, maybe a little bit of early morning fog in
01:45a few spots. Sunny spells too for much of Wales and western England. It's further east
01:50where we're going to have this cloud and rain. Now, some uncertainty about how far it's going
01:53to creep and whether the rain will just tend to come and go all day or whether it'll be
01:57stuck under persistent rain. But there is the threat of that, certainly for parts of
02:01East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, East Anglia and the southeast. Looks pretty dull and damp
02:05here for much of the day. So at times that rain could drift into the Midlands, but much
02:10of the West Midlands, fine and sunny and certainly elsewhere, plenty of spring sunshine,
02:15but really can have a huge impact on the temperatures. And certainly if you're stuck under that cloud
02:20and rain across the east, five, six degrees, maybe squeaking up to seven in Norwich and
02:25London, that's going to feel pretty grim for the time of year. Further west, we could reach
02:30double digits in one or two places, certainly eight, nine, 10 Celsius, fairly typical with
02:34light winds not feeling too bad at all across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Quite quickly,
02:39though, temperatures here will fall again on Saturday nights with those clear skies.
02:43We will again see a frost. Now, weather front is finally going to start to bring more patchy
02:48rain further west and also kind of start to fizzle out as we go through the night. So
02:53we're just left with a few showers across the Midlands, southern England, maybe south
02:58Wales as we head into Sunday. But they should be easing away. Still a fair bit of cloud
03:03across the south, but again, good spells of sunshine for northern England, north Wales,
03:07Northern Ireland and Scotland having another blue sky day on Sunday. That easterly wind
03:13will be picking up, though, so that's going to be noticeable even though it's drier for
03:17eastern England. It's not much warmer, still only six, seven, maybe eight Celsius. But
03:22add on that wind and it will feel colder elsewhere again with a bit of sunshine, eight, nine,
03:27maybe 10 Celsius across parts of Scotland and west Wales, along with Northern Ireland.
03:33So the outlook is for largely dry conditions through this weekend, but don't expect much
03:38in the way of warmth and that damp weather persisting over eastern England on Saturday.
