00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather update.
00:02Nothing like as warm as last Saturday,
00:04but still, this Saturday should bring many of us
00:07some good spurs of sunshine.
00:08Just expect it to be quite a lot colder.
00:11High pressure is nearby, sitting close enough
00:14to bring most of us a fine weekend.
00:16But this little weather front is just trickling southwards,
00:19and the air is still coming from the north,
00:21hence why we've got such a chilly feel.
00:23But at least the ice bars are opening up,
00:25so it won't be as windy as the past couple of days.
00:29Still, the showers feeding in from the North Sea
00:31across eastern parts of England,
00:32so we could see some icy conditions here.
00:35We do have a Met Office yellow warning in place.
00:37Now, weather fronts in the west also bringing
00:39a mixture of rain, sleet, and some hill snow
00:42to parts of Wales, and later in the night, southwest England.
00:45It is gonna be cold and frosty for many,
00:47with temperatures even in towns and cities
00:49down below freezing.
00:50Rural spots across northern England,
00:52maybe minus five, and similar conditions
00:55where there's snow lying on the ground
00:56across parts of Scotland.
00:57So a cold and a frosty start to the weekend,
01:00but quite a fine and sunny one as well.
01:03Still some showers coming in across eastern England.
01:05There's a mixture of rain, sleet, hail, snow here,
01:08so as I said, it could be icy.
01:10The showers in south Wales and southwest England
01:12during Saturday morning should tend to fade away,
01:15but then we will see some developing through the afternoon
01:17across east Wales, the Midlands,
01:19maybe again southwest England,
01:21and certainly the rest continues
01:22over eastern parts of England.
01:24But those showers will be pretty well scattered,
01:26and for many, it'll be dry and bright.
01:28Certainly not many showers for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:30Many places here just staying fine and sunny.
01:33And those winds, although still noticeable across Kent,
01:36will be lighter for most compared to recent days.
01:39So although it is cold,
01:41temperatures still in single figures by and large,
01:43we might just get up to 10 Celsius, 50 Fahrenheit,
01:46but it'll probably feel, if you can get in that sunshine,
01:49a little bit warmer than the past couple of days.
01:52Quite quickly though, if heading out on Saturday night,
01:54temperatures will be tumbling,
01:56so bear that in mind.
01:57A few showers continuing into the evening,
01:59but most of them fading away.
02:01Where we do keep a few showers going,
02:03particularly close to the east coast,
02:05again, it might turn a bit icy for Sunday morning.
02:07Certainly gonna be a frosty start,
02:09the blue color on the map telling us that.
02:11But again, the sun gets up quickly and it's quite strong,
02:14so the frost will melt away.
02:16And again, for most Sundays, dry and bright.
02:18The odd shower over England and Wales,
02:19we will see some cloud developing here.
02:22Marty sunny skies for northern England.
02:24And then we bump into some thickening clouds
02:26during Sunday afternoon for Northern Ireland
02:29and Northwest Scotland,
02:30where we will see some rain creeping in later in the day.
02:34Temperatures, again, below average for the time of year,
02:36but just ticking up by a degree or so
02:38for most compared to Saturday.
02:40And again, with light winds,
02:41if you can get in the sunshine,
02:42doesn't feel all that cold.
02:44Now, this cloud and rain coming into the northwest
02:47is courtesy of a weather front,
02:49and that will push southwards
02:51as we go through Sunday night and into Monday.
02:53Eventually ousting our area of high pressure,
02:56but also ousting the cold air
02:58that's been sitting across us for a number of days.
03:01So this warm front will swing south.
03:03It will bring some rain,
03:04but it will also reintroduce milder conditions for Monday
03:08and for most of us on Tuesday as well.
03:10So if you're not a fan of the cold,
03:11something milder is on the way.
03:14Before that, though, enjoy your weekend
03:16and make sure you're following the Met Office
03:17to get the very latest.
