00:00Hello, welcome to a national weather forecast from the Met Office. The weather is going
00:04to be chopping and changing again through the weekend. We do have a couple of warnings
00:08in place as well. We've had an active weather front swinging across the country. This cold
00:13front brought some heavy rain through the night and has now introduced much colder air
00:18across the UK as the wet weather slunk southwards. It did have a bit of snow mixed in across
00:23parts of East Anglia and the south east and certainly the showers packing into Western
00:28Scotland, Northern Ireland and North West England have some snow mixed in as well, even
00:31to lower levels for a time. That snow could build up over some of the higher routes, particularly
00:37later on. A mixture of rain, sleet and hail showers across Wales, much of eastern England
00:42and the south dry and bright this afternoon. But it ain't warm. A frigid Friday, temperatures
00:48significantly lower than recent days, generally a touch below average. And add on that wind,
00:54it feels much closer to freezing. It feels well below across northern Scotland where
00:59the snow showers will continue to pack in across the highlands. We do have a Met Office
01:04warning in place here for the afternoon into the evening. The snow could build up, say
01:09some of the higher routes may see a few centimetres of snow. The wintry showers further south
01:14across Northern Ireland, North West England ease through the evening and much of the south
01:18and east will have a dry night. It won't be particularly cold. Temperatures are likely
01:23to drop close to freezing in towns and cities, a touch below in rural spots. But that wind
01:29should stop the temperatures from falling much further than that. And then we have more
01:33wet weather coming into the north west. That will bring a little more snow during Saturday
01:38across Scotland, again, chiefly over the higher ground before turning back to rain for a time.
01:44The rain pushing into Northern Ireland, a dull, damp, dank day here and for much of
01:48North West England, the rain trickling into north and west Wales, but much of southern
01:53England, eastern England having a dry day on Saturday with certainly some sunny spells,
01:58especially early on, although it will clown over. And then it turns bright across northern
02:03Scotland, but the cold air returns. And so the showers once more starts to turn wintry
02:09and it will feel cold here again. Temperatures in the morning could be five, six degrees,
02:14but in the afternoon, again, significant wind chill with temperatures only three or
02:18four Celsius. Meanwhile, further south, look at those temperatures back up to double digits.
02:23But there will still be a strong wind blowing, so it's not going to feel particularly pleasant.
02:29And those snow showers increasing through Saturday evening across western Scotland means
02:34we have another Met Office yellow warning in place against some disruption possible
02:39from snow on the higher routes, especially outbreaks of rain continuing to track further
02:44south and kind of grinding to a halt then across the south on Sunday. So a cloudy day
02:48in the south on Sunday with some outbreaks of rain, mainly in the west. Further north,
02:54we'll continue to see those wintry showers coming in and everywhere. It's going to be
02:58windy, but particularly once more in western Scotland during Saturday night and into Sunday.
03:04Plenty going on over the course of this weekend. So make sure you stay up to date with the
03:09very latest. The weather warnings are on our app and on our website. Subscribe to our YouTube
