00:00Hello. The weather is going from reasonably straightforward to really rather complicated
00:05as we go, of course, towards the Bank Holiday coronation weekend. Here's the bigger picture
00:10from Thursday morning. Big swirl of cloud out in the Atlantic. That, of course, is an
00:15area of low pressure. It's squeezing towards the UK. The isobars are pinching together,
00:20which is why it's quite a blustery Thursday. But also down to the southwest, things are
00:25developing and we've got some showery rain pushing in from northern France. That is bringing
00:31some showers to southwest England, perhaps parts of Wales for a time today. But most
00:35places still dry and fine. But with that easterly breeze bringing a bit of a chill and particularly
00:41on some of these North Sea coasts, also quite a lot of cloud. Cloudy with that strong wind
00:46off the North Sea. It is going to feel pretty fresh with temperatures struggling to get
00:50beyond single digits on the coast itself. Whereas inland with some hazy sunshine, there'll
00:55be a slice of the country in the high teens, perhaps 20, maybe even 21. Whereas in the
01:00southwest with a thicker cloud and the showers, temperatures will be that much lower. So it
01:06is fairly mixed, the picture as we go through today. And that is likely to last into tomorrow.
01:12But we are going to see more in the way of rain moving in. The showers in the southwest
01:16don't just stop there as the low pressure starts to take control. We'll see outbreaks
01:20of rain spreading through Northern Ireland as far north as southern and central Scotland
01:25by the end of the night. Much of eastern England, northern Scotland will stay dry and
01:29still that breeze coming in from the North Sea, bringing thick cloud at times to some
01:33of those coasts. It will be a pretty mild night certainly across the south with the
01:37cloud and the outbreaks of rain. But with clear skies in northern Scotland, some pockets
01:41of frost are possible through sheltered glens. Should start with some sunshine over the far
01:47northwest of the UK, but elsewhere fairly cloudy starts to Friday. Outbreaks of rain
01:51across northern England, southern central Scotland and northern Ireland. As we go through
01:56the morning, it should brighten in the south, but that will trigger heavy showers then through
02:00the afternoon. Big downpours likely on Friday. Parts of the Midlands, South Wales, southern
02:05and eastern England. Heavy, slow moving thundery showers that could drop a lot of rain in a
02:12reasonably short space of time. And so that could cause some disruption, hail and thunder
02:17certainly on the cards. They'll always be somewhat hit and miss and certainly through
02:21the afternoon, Wales, southwest England looking a little drier along the south coast. It'll
02:25probably stay fine. The far northwest may also stay dry and bright throughout the day,
02:30but a lot of clouds still on that brisk wind bringing a chill to the far northeast. So
02:36again, it'll be pretty fresh here with temperatures maybe only 10 or 11 at best. Elsewhere again,
02:41we should get into the teens dodging between the downpours when the sun pops out. As we
02:46go through Friday evening, the showers will continue certainly over central and eastern
02:50parts. So again, a lot of spray, a lot of surface water on the roads if you're travelling
02:54on Friday evening ahead of the long weekend. But the showers should start to fade and things
03:00turn a little drier overnight into Saturday morning. Notice down to the southwest, though,
03:05some more thick cloud and some outbreaks of rain. That is from this little weather system
03:09that looks like spreading rain in from the southwest during Saturday. So it could be
03:14quite a damp day across the south, something a bit drier further north. That slowly clears
03:19away then on Sunday before another weather system comes in on Monday. It gets pretty
03:23complicated, as I said, through the weekend. The timing of these weather fronts will be
03:27crucial, but expect outbreaks of rain. If you've got outdoor plans this weekend, make
03:32sure you've got a plan B. But equally, it won't rain all weekend. And when the sun's
03:36out, it will feel quite warm. A full coronation weekend forecast will be available on YouTube
03:42by Thursday afternoon. So hit subscribe if you're watching on YouTube and then you won't miss it.
