00:00Welcome to a latest update from the Met Office. After a couple of cold days it is
00:04a bit milder out there for most. It's damp and drizzly especially across the
00:08far south and there are some showers in the northwest but in between many places
00:12having a dry day today. Most of us saw some wet weather overnight that is now
00:17clearing away pulling away from East Anglia and the southeast through the
00:21morning but notice another zone of rain on the radar here that's creeping back
00:24towards the southwest and always across the south coast it's gonna stay pretty
00:28dull and dank. Elsewhere further north though something a little brighter some
00:32sunshine for eastern Scotland much of northern Ireland some showers for
00:36western Scotland and we'll see more of those developing through this evening.
00:39Temperature wise as I said at the start it's a little milder certainly across
00:43the south compared to recent days further north temperatures close to
00:46average but the winds are lighter so in that sunshine doesn't feel too bad at
00:50all. We are gonna see more rain creeping across the south through this evening
00:54before that scoots away and then the showers further north kind of take over
00:59so most places turning showery as we go through the night. The winds will also
01:03start to pick up through the night and bring colder air temperatures dropping
01:07down through the night but still mostly staying above freezing. With the colder
01:11air though it does mean the showers will turn increasingly wintry over the hills
01:15of Scotland should be rain that we see mostly at lower levels but there are
01:18gonna be plenty of showers during Saturday certainly quite a few of course
01:22eastern areas first thing it brightens up perhaps for a time here before more
01:26showers come in during the day particularly for southern Scotland northern England
01:29those showers are going to be falling as snow over the southern uplands the
01:33Transpennine routes perhaps for a time but again at low levels it is expected
01:37to be chiefly rain that we see. Rain showers for Wales southwest England on
01:41and off through the day but the central belt of Scotland's southeast England
01:45just picking out a couple of areas that actually for much of Saturday afternoon
01:48will be dry and bright with some sunshine. However it's gonna feel cold
01:52the winds coming in from the northwest particularly chilly and brisk winds on
01:56those westernmost coasts 5, 6, 7 degrees generally but feeling colder when you
02:02add on that wind. Certainly pretty cold through Saturday evening particularly
02:06across parts of the northeast if we keep this zone of wet weather going still
02:10some snow likely mixed in with that chiefly over the hills but that could
02:14peter out quite quickly through the course of the evening. Showers will keep
02:17going around western areas well into the night. The wet weather out in the
02:22North Sea at this stage an area of low pressure that continues to pull away but
02:26doesn't completely clear so by Sunday it's still nearby we've got showers
02:31coming in off that low pressure system from the North Sea to parts of eastern
02:35England but a ridge of high pressure will promise many western areas a dry
02:38day on Sunday. There is this weather front coming in on Sunday night and into
02:43Monday but actually we're a bit more concerned about developments out in the
02:47Atlantic. Look at this deepening area of low pressure and rapidly heading towards
02:52the UK Monday and Tuesday. Still a long way off and still a degree of uncertainty
02:57but it does look as if that will bring us a spell of windy weather as we go
03:01through next week. Important to emphasize this is very different to storm Arwen
03:06it's coming in from a different direction so different parts of the UK
03:08will be affected but certainly the potential for a windy spell on Tuesday
03:13and Wednesday. Before that most western areas dry on Sunday but still some
03:18showers in the east. Keep up to date with the latest weather forecast from us here
