00:00Hello, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03This weekend, we'll again see a cold wind developing,
00:06nothing like as powerful as last weekend.
00:08But nevertheless, that chilly wind
00:10will bring plenty of showers across the country on Saturday.
00:13Sunday looks drier, certainly many Western areas
00:16with quite a bit of sunshine.
00:17There'll still be some showers keeping going across the east.
00:20Let's get back to Friday evening, though,
00:22because wetter weather across the southwest
00:24will spread along the south coast,
00:26so quite a dank and drizzly night here.
00:28Further north, the showers becoming more extensive
00:31through Northern Ireland, Northern England,
00:32into the Midlands, and continuing across Scotland,
00:35where we will see snow over the hills,
00:37but primarily at lower levels, it's going to be rain.
00:40Temperatures mostly holding up,
00:41certainly in towns and cities, a few degrees above freezing.
00:43Some clearer slots later in the night
00:46may allow just a few pockets of frost,
00:48but generally frost-free into Saturday,
00:50but it's still going to feel pretty cold first thing,
00:53especially under this cloud and rain
00:55across parts of eastern England.
00:57That tends to clear through.
00:58Then we'll see some sunshine for a time,
01:00but then we will see more showers.
01:02There's quite a bit of uncertainty
01:03about the position of this line
01:04of more persistent rain with hill snow.
01:08It could affect certainly the southern uplands,
01:10and through the day, the Cheviots and the Pennines
01:12could see a bit of snow too,
01:13but again, mostly at low levels, it'll be rain.
01:16Showers for Northern Ireland, Wales,
01:18southwest England on and off through the day,
01:20but central Scotland should have
01:22a largely dry and bright afternoon,
01:24and the southeast as well,
01:25probably not seeing too many afternoon showers,
01:28but it's going to feel cold,
01:29even if you've got the sunshine temperatures
01:31only five to seven degrees generally.
01:33Add on that wind as it picks up,
01:36and well, it really will feel pretty cold
01:39through the course of the afternoon.
01:41Getting cold again on Saturday evening.
01:43Temperatures will fall away fairly sharply.
01:45We'll keep a brisk breeze,
01:46and still the potential for more persistent rain
01:49down the eastern side of England
01:50with a bit of snow likely over the hills,
01:52the North York Moors, for example,
01:54and in this zone, we're likely to keep showers
01:57going well into Sunday,
01:58but further west, it is turning drier,
02:01and the winds are easing a little bit,
02:03and where we've got clear skies and lighter winds,
02:05certainly expecting a touch of frost
02:07across parts of Scotland.
02:08Elsewhere, again, many places just about
02:11staying a little above freezing.
02:13Nevertheless, it'll still feel cold again on Sunday morning.
02:16A lot of cloud over the Midlands and eastern England.
02:19I think we'll continue to feed in showers
02:21across East Anglia, Lincolnshire,
02:24up towards the borders throughout the day.
02:26So in this zone, there will be showers on and off
02:28during Sunday and a lot of cloud,
02:30but in the Midlands westwards,
02:32most places dry and certainly further west,
02:35plenty of sunshine likely,
02:36maybe just the odd shower for Pembrokeshire and Cornwall.
02:39It is gonna be chilly again, however.
02:41The wind's coming down from the north,
02:42but easing down a little bit,
02:44so in the sunshine in the west,
02:46it might not feel as cold.
02:47Still, I suspect, feeling pretty raw
02:49on those North Sea coasts with the showers coming and going.
02:52Now, wintry nature to those showers as well.
02:55It's as pale as possible at times
02:55with some further snow over the hills.
02:58The showers feeding in around this area
03:00of low pressure in the North Sea.
03:02That does ebb away on Sunday night.
03:04With the cold air in place, however,
03:07these weather fronts that start to edge in
03:09during Sunday night and into Monday
03:12could provide a little bit of snow
03:14as they hit the colder air.
03:15So that's one thing we need to watch.
03:18But there's something else lurking
03:20that we definitely need to keep a very close eye on
03:22out in the Atlantic.
03:23This area of low pressure.
03:25It doesn't look much at this stage,
03:27but it is gonna intensify.
03:29Just watch.
03:30As we go through Monday and into Tuesday,
03:32as it approaches the UK,
03:33the isobars popping out of it.
03:35It develops into a really nasty looking area
03:37of low pressure.
03:38The isobar's really close together on that.
03:41So that is set to bring a spell of very wet
03:44and windy weather Tuesday and into Wednesday.
03:47Some uncertainty about the exact location
03:49and the exact timing,
03:51but some very strong winds are likely.
03:54This is different to Storm Arwen.
03:55Different parts of the UK are going to be affected,
03:57but nevertheless, it's one to keep a very close eye on.
04:01And we will, of course, keep you up to date.
