00:00Welcome to your national weather update from the Met Office. More sunshine to
00:04come on Friday. It will be a little chilly first thing but then plenty of
00:08sunshine lifting the temperatures by afternoon. This area of high pressure has
00:12moved back in. It's sitting pretty much slap bang across the UK and it isn't
00:17shifting anywhere fast, likely to hang on even into the weekend. There is a weather
00:22front just edging south that will bring a bit more cloud across Shetland during
00:26Friday but otherwise largely clear skies through the night. Some mist and
00:30fog here and there. One or two isolated showers during Thursday evening but
00:34they're fizzling out across eastern Scotland. So as I said mostly dry and
00:38clear. A bit of mist and fog possible across eastern England and more
00:41particularly through Northern Ireland. So a bit of a misty murky start. Temperatures
00:45dropping off with the clear skies. Close to freezing across the south. Towns and
00:49cities just about holding above freezing but certainly rural areas, low-lying
00:53rural areas, there will be a frost across the south and through the glens of
00:57Scotland also. So a chilly start to Friday but the sun will be up and
01:02lifting those temperatures pretty sharply. Take a while for the mist and
01:06fog to clear across Northern Ireland. Maybe southwest Scotland a bit misty
01:09early on over eastern England too. There's that weather front introducing
01:13more cloud across Shetland. A little bit of light rain as possible here and again
01:17come the afternoon. One or two very isolated showers. Northern Ireland,
01:21northern England, possibly across Wales as well as some cloud bubbles up but
01:25generally a lot of blue sky, a lot of sunshine and warm as well. Certainly for
01:30the time of year temperatures yet again well above the average peaking at 16, 17
01:35maybe 18 or 19 across the south and a warmer day for Scotland and Northern
01:39Ireland here too. We could be up into the high teens in places. A little cooler on
01:44the coast of East Anglia and the Kent coast as well where there will be a bit
01:48of a brisk breeze blowing and the breeze just strengthening a little
01:51through the channel as we head into the weekends. That weather front just making
01:54its presence felt still across the Northern Isles. So cloudy here with a
01:58little bit of light rain and drizzle on Saturday morning and again some mist and
02:03fog is possible early in the day but look at this generally it's another
02:06cracking day if you like spring sunshine. Blue skies almost across the
02:11board and again temperatures will respond to that strengthening sunshine
02:15starting off not much above freezing but ending up not much off 20 Celsius in
02:20places. Again some of the coast will be a little cooler but feeling a little
02:24fresher on the south coast with a bit more of a breeze blowing here. Sunday
02:28will be a similar story as we go through Saturday night's not going to see a
02:32great deal of change. Some clouds still across the far north but generally it's
02:37going to be another cracking day on Sunday. Could be a bit misty and murky on
02:40some eastern coasts and again cooler on the coast but inland in the sunshine
02:44again temperatures in the mid to high teens on Sunday afternoon. Signs of
02:49things potentially turning a little colder as we go through next week but
02:53before that a fine weekend to be had. Stay up to date with the latest from the
02:57Met Office by following us right across social media.
