00:00Hello. After a mild, but for most of us, murky Thursday, many of us will have a fine Friday.
00:07But there's some lively weather to be had on Thursday night. A couple of weather fronts
00:11to take note of. In between these two weather fronts, we call this a warm sector, the air
00:16is pretty mild. But behind this next cold front, the air is much fresher. And that one
00:22will be swinging its way across the country through the night, both bringing some cloud
00:27and rain. But this one in particular, bringing a short but fairly intense spell of rain.
00:31And also, the winds will suddenly start to whip up as it swings across Scotland and Northern
00:36Ireland through this evening and then spreads across England and Wales overnight. So I think
00:41we'll all see a spell of rain and gusty winds through the nights. But once they're out of
00:45the way, and generally they will be by dawn, we will see that colder air moving in, allowing
00:51the showers to turn to snow over some of the higher routes across parts of Scotland. And
00:55it could also be quite icy here as temperatures dip down close to freezing. For most towns
01:00and cities, though, temperatures will drop, certainly lower than the previous night, but
01:05hold up at, say, three to five Celsius and still quite mild across the far southeast
01:10because here the rain won't have completely cleared away. It will be disappearing probably
01:14before sunrise from East Anglia and the far southeast. And then generally, as I said,
01:19for most, a fine Friday with some decent spells of sunshine. There will still be a few showers
01:24certainly in the morning for Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland, and through the day will
01:28keep showers coming in across the Highlands, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles.
01:32But any winterness in those showers, any snow early on will turn back to rain. Staying pretty
01:37blustery here also, a bit breezy around western coasts for sure. But for a good chunk of the
01:42country, it is going to be a fine looking day with decent spells of winter sunshine.
01:48There is a cooler feel to proceedings. We're in the colder air, but these temperatures
01:51actually pretty close to average. Obviously, a few degrees down compared to Thursday's
01:56numbers, but say five to nine or 10 Celsius across the south. It'll turn milder again
02:01as we go through the weekend. We'll keep the showers going on Friday night across the northwest.
02:06Again, staying pretty windy here. Generally, a bit more clouds spilling in across the north
02:11as we head into Saturday morning. But clearer skies in the south will allow it to turn a
02:15bit chilly. So a reversal of fortunes, if you like, for Saturday morning compared to
02:21Friday morning. The coldest conditions across the south and east where there will be some
02:25pockets of frost, certainly rural areas could be a bit of fog around as well. That should
02:29tend to clear reasonably quickly and then for most again, Saturday is dry and bright,
02:33not as sunny, perhaps as Friday. And again, it will be quite windy in the west, particularly
02:39in the northwest, where it will be far from sunny. Cloud and outbreaks of rain likely
02:43over the highlands, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles through the day. But elsewhere,
02:47mainly it's just becoming a little cloudier, but staying mostly dry. And it will be a little
02:52milder as well, nine or 10 degrees Celsius. Milder still on Sunday for many. And if you
02:58want more details on that, you can catch our weekend forecast on YouTube. And if you hit
